Five star camping spot. Nice rod and reel combo. Nice fishing action Much respect for catch and release of fishes Love to cook fish in banana leaves over wood fire. Especially with some dry coconut shells and coconut meat in fire. Smells amazing. Try it. Have some dry coconut burning in fire as I watch video. Also nice insect repellent Great video. What a day fishing, and that looks like a super tasty meal despite the last-minute catch! I'll have to find some banana leaves to try cooking with. If you can find dried lotus leaves at an asian market, you should definitely try picking up some of those. They're extremely aromatic and flavorful, and Lo Mai Gai (sticky rice with meat & sauce wrapped in lotus leaf and then steamed) is one of my favorite dishes in the world. I've done a bit of experimenting with ginger leaves from the backyard to add flavor, but I think I need to pre-boil them prior to using them so they release more flavor. A big tip on keeping the squid tender is to cook it for as little time as possible. It only needs a minute or two of high heat before it's cooked through. Anything longer than that and it starts to get super tough and rubbery. A few minutes on a high heat grill should do. I'm not sure how you'll be able to achieve this on a primitive method recipe like foil-wrapped banana leaves, but I'm sure you'll figure something out. Maybe grill the squid on its own and cook the sauce down in a separate vessel, then combine the two later on. I'm jealous that you got to try squid sashimi, I've been keen to get some live squid to try it myself for years now. I've seen that you can take the cleaned body and peel back the thin outer membrane on both the interior and exterior to make the sashimi even more tender, and score it very fine to make for a better mouth feel. Not necessary I'm sure, but it may be worth trying. Hopefully some of that's useful for you, catch you in the next vid!

Well, it's 7 pm here in Michigan and it is like 15 F.. Let's split the difference and go to Florida where it is like 70 F... LOL Speaking of Florida, I have never caught a GT; but when fishing deep wrecks off the keys.. We would always keep a rod rigged up with a J-hook on a wire leader.. You always seemed to get those "thief" fish like king mackerel or barracuda.. Sacrifice a small snapper for the cause.. If the barracuda was big enough, let him eat his fill and he would keep all the other "thieves" out of the area..LOL I see you got the trolling motor worked out... Good deal..

Hi Andy, I posted a comment awhile ago advising of some changes to your camera and mic setup and it appears you took some of it into consideration. I know you complained a lot in this video about camera issues in this episode, but the content/mic sound/video quality is by far the best you've had so far. I've compared some videos from e510(not sure if your using the new GoPro there) and prior but content was 30fps. But videos after 510 are by far quality wise way better for HD viewing with 60fps which makes viewing your content 100x better. This comment is more of feedback with video/mic quality of your videos. Kudos and keep up the great work man! I am jealous of your lifestyle :)
@Andysfishing3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate any feedback, good or bad. Let's see if the 60fps makes more people stay longer. It does take way more editing time.

Hey Andy couldn't really tell in the video if you did or not but you need to peel of the skin/membrane from both inside and outside of the squid this helps with it being more tender and getting rid of that chewy texture that people often note when eating calamari, with them being cuaght fresh off the beach like that they should be super tender and delicious!
