A Brompton would be perfect for that

Very interesting, how far did you travel on the pack raft ? I have one and find the paddling slow and leg position a little cramped I have only secured a dry bag on the bow . Also I like the way you placed the wheels under the frame and secured with minimum fuss.😀

On this particular trip the float was very short. Maybe a mile. But I have done multi night bikepacking trips where I have spent significant time in the raft. Like all day. When I am floating I am usually passing other people on the river if I am actively paddling but I'm sure canoes or kayaks could go much faster. I don't get uncomfortable on long days. This boat might be a little bigger than some alpackas, I'm not sure. It is still quite light which is nice on the bike.

Thanks for video! IMHO putting your wheels above your bike would have resulted in much more stable contraption.

Thats true. I put them on the bottom because they have no pointy spots that could puncture the raft. But now that I think about it I only need one wheel to do that. I may try one on top and one below next time. It would also help with visibility.

How much does your bike weigh?
@dirtsurf13 жыл бұрын
That bike is very light. It is an Ibis hakkalugi. I dont really know the weight but I would guess around 16 pounds. I have been bikerafting with my full suspension mtb too. It weighs nearly 30 pounds so weight isnt really an issue for the boat.
