This will be part one of my two-part adventure in St. Croix State Park located in Minnesota. I had a blast! The park was empty, and it was a beautiful weekend. Temperatures were close to 50 degrees so I didn't even need a coat! I'm thankful for my opportunity to bring you with on my adventure. Hopefully we won't have snowstorm or blizzard anytime soon so I can stay truck camping. Thanks for coming along on the adventure. Thanks for stopping by.

Yeah, $35 for an electric service camp site is high. Fees for Texas State Parks on electric only sites is $15-$20 per night. $25 for full hook ups with sewer. However, an annual park pass to gain entry to the park is $70. Without a pass it’s $8 per day per person (children under 13 are free). So, if you and Mandy arrive at a Texas state park without an annual pass it would cost $16 plus $15-$20 for your campsite. So, $31-$36 per night for electric only. Not cheap. With our annual park pass they knock off a few bucks on the camp sites. We feel your pain. The cheapest places to stay here are Corps of Engineers parks. With our senior lifetime National park pass it’s around $15 per night. Cheaper in some COE parks.

I scare quite easy, but doesn't keep me from doing things like that though. This placed is so cool to have such a great building to use. As always, another great video. I just love how real you keep it. You don't edit out the things that go wrong and I just love that. Things go wrong in the real world so why not show when you forget something, or something breaks down, or a park isn't open. It's great and all the more reason I enjoy watching.

Another great camp site find, though on the expensive side. It's was fantastic that you had it all to your little lonesome, that's the way I like to camp, being away from people. Everything I do, and when I do it, is arranged around the least busiest times for the same reason. I NEVER stand in line for anything! The sunset was gorgeous, too. I cannot wait until we're able to get our camper because we are SO ready to get out there; sadly, we have to wait a little longer, until then, we'll live vicariously through your excellent videos! $35 is pretty standard these days at most state parks. At least they aren’t charging a $7/night utility fee like FL does. That said, as a resident, most states give a 50% discount. You should see if MN does too. Another good video. Thx
@KennyOfAllTrades
@KennyOfAllTrades Жыл бұрын
I'll look into that. I have the yearly park pass too. Otherwise I'd have to pay the 35 dollars to camp and a 7 dollar a day park fee. The two day one night total would be 49 dollars to camp one night. I'll look into a resident discount.

That's a good point I never considered. I hear places like KOA and others can be expensive. Ive seen some people on KZbin pay 75 dollars or more per night. I guess the cost ( high or low) is relative to where you are. The National Forest campgrounds in this area are between 9 and 17 bucks a night, or free for a rustic site. We also have tons of remote camping up here. But they are not setup for larger campers like this park was. I guess you get what you pay for.

I really enjoy winter camping. The only down fall is the days are so much shorter. With the sun up at 8 and down by 430 it leaves little time to leave the house, find a spot, setup camp and explore the area....I might have to start leaving Friday after work again to get a head start. That way I'll have all day Saturday to make a video.

Hi Kenny! I'm a new viewer 😀 and really LOVE your vids! I'm also from MN (central) and just bought a popup truck camper. This summer will be my first time using it. I have a RV for pulling my horse trailer. I haul a horse to camp with and actually camped at the other part of St Croix state park..on the horse trail center. I agree..$35 a night is steep...and the only time I feel I'm getting my money's worth is hot days when I'm running my air conditioner..that would be too hard while boon docking. I love all the horse trails there and wild river state park is another good one. I also have a fat tire ebike (Juiced brand) and absolutely LOVE it..keep the video coming! Hi Kenny, we have missed seeing you the past few weeks, our fault. Fred and I loved your intro and the music that you chose. Your editing is getting better and better. ❤ Many of the State Park Campsites are expensive of course there are some exceptions along the way. We lost one of our turnbuckles last week and then we remembered you saying that you drove with out one for a bit. That made us feel better to think about as we waited for the part to come in the mail. So, thank you for sharing that information. That is so me (Mary) to walk down that far and have left the camera...Then forget major items for the trip. I had to chuckle out loud knowing that I am not alone in the forgetful department. The sunset and moon shot were stunning. Loved that cool building late at night with a fire. No need to be scared you are with a few thousand people in a creepy, weird sort of way. One thing about missing the past two weeks is we get to watch the part one and part two back to back. Mary 💕 Fred

Thanks Mary, I think I went 3 weeks, maybe even a month missing the rear tie-down. I could watch the videos to find out for sure. I think it was from the trip up north with Mandi during Grouse hunting season. That video has struggled to get views. I'm gonna be doing some ice fishing tomorrow morning. I hope to have enough footage for a video. I drove out to the lake tonight but it's so dark I can't see what I'm doing. My Gopro's don't do well in low light either. I think I'll start recording the video tomorrow morning. It's super pieceful out here. I just went on a little walk in the woods. The snow makes everything so quiet. Tuesday you will see a video ibrecorded last week. I know I said in the last video I was taking a weekend off to spend with family, but I was able to sneak in a trip too. So now I'm a week ahead on videos. It gives me more time to edit this way.

@@KennyOfAllTrades You are doing so well with your videos and views. You work hard on your channel and it shows. The Go Pro does not seem to work that well in the dark. Fred is ordering a light for ours to see if that helps. Time will tell. Living full time and roaming the country makes it hard for us to get mail at times. Walking in the woods is so relaxing to me. I go out hiking and exploring by myself a lot and like you I don't mind. I have been doing it since I was a little girl. It is where I unwind and talk to God. So peaceful. I am sure it gives Fred a break from when I hike and explore. 🤣 I used to feel guilty going out and exploring by myself and then I realized he is fine with his me time. A win, win. Mary 💕 Fred

I run the propane furnace 99% of the time. Normally I dont camp with an electrical at my site. That's only happened 4 or 5 times in the last year. This weekend I used a small electrical heater because I had power. It worked great even in 20 degree weather. I dont have a power station. I would love to have one. Have fun with the projexts!

@KennyOfAllTrades Жыл бұрын
Minnesota has 66 State Parks in total. Out of them you can winter camp at 25 of them. Not all sites are open in the campgrounds, only selected sites are plowed out. Some campgrounds with 200 sites will only have 10 open during the winter months. Last week we were completely iced over on most lakes. I thought I would get in some ice fishing. Unfortunately we saw some temps in the upper 40's. Ice fishing will get pushed back a bit now.

Lol You are right though, I spend to much time looking for the perfect spot. I have to remind myself that I only have one night a week to make these videos. As far as camera equipment I use the Gopro 10 for about 90% of my filming and a Gopro 9 to catch the other shots. I have a DJI Osmo Action, I don't use it much because I don't like that I can see a difference in footage quality. There both good, just a difference in color science. I have a Panasonic G9 that I thought I was going to use more. Unfortunately I'm not good with cameras and don't understand how to use it. I have spent countless hours trying to learn it, but when I'm in the feild I get more bad footage then good. It's not the camera, it's me. I have a love hate relationship with Gopros. The truth is they are absolute garbage and extremely unreliable. I have lost multiple videos because the footage becomes corrupt. They are awesome when they work. But be ready for glitches. In this video I almost threw away the Gopros. You can see at the end of the video I was so frustrated. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3e5nWqNar2LaJI
