When I was working as a cruise staff on NCl, we would host a meeting for solo travellers once a day. There would be 2 different types of solos... those who were outgoing, fun and independent and those who couldn't find anyone else to travel with lol. I always thought it seemed a great idea, as I love travelling alone but normally have to pay a single supplement which puts me off... hope more cruise lines follow suit.

There's also a difference between solo and single. I'm married and while my husband and I do travel together, we have different interests and do some travel without the other.

I found a balcony on Norwegian Prima to be cheaper than their solo lounge area but always down for a solo cruise whether it be a solo cabin or a regular cabin.

We used to do a group cruise every year back in the early 2000’s. In 2002 we were supposed to go Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Ocho Rios. Unfortunately a hurricane was heading right for Grand Cayman, so we had to go to Costa Mya. We were told that us and the RC ship were some of the first ships to port there. There was literally just a small swim up bar and a handful of vendors when we went there. Other than that, there was nothing there

I love NCL and have been on 34 cruises with them. I have never been in the Ice bar because I am not a fan of the cold. It looks like you had a wonderful time at the Glow Party!

I was surprised that you didn't feature the daily gatherings in the solo lounge. For those who really want to meet up with other solo travelers, that's the best opportunity. And there's always the option of the group dining together, as well. I can understand if you wanted to do things on your own… I feel that way quite often. But it would be helpful if your viewers were aware of the hosted gatherings.

I was hoping you could answer a question. All of my previous cruises have been Caribbean cruises, and I've carried US currency with me. I'm going on my first European cruise and will be carrying mostly Euros. Is it cool to tip crew members with Euros?

It's good to see more solo cruising options, considering that a third of Americans aren't in a relationship, yet for the longest time, if you wanted to go on a cruise, you had to pay for two people, even if it was just you, which made solo cruising something I had zero interest in.
