We just got back from camping in Arizona two state campgrounds in lakes. Both with water, electricity and dump stations. New and modern clean bathroom/ shower at one. Paid around $120 for four nights each. Then stayed at a BLM campground on a lake for $15 a night.

I live on the boarder of apache junction and have been to canyon lake many many times. Love it up there. Used to fish and swim there , now i also kayak it. Everything about that marina resturant and campground is way over priced. SAD. Looks like you had a quiet peacful couple days . Love the two legged visitors you had. Joey is so very well behaved.

Beautiful spot but yikes, $70/night seems pricey for what you get. I love that you share the names of the camping places you go to (obviously, after you have left - safety first!). Lots of folks don't and it's nice to be able to bookmark places for future travels from seeing your experience at the different places. I also love that Joey is so comfortable on the paddleboard. My absolute favorite drive and lake in AZ! (Although Sedona's Oak Creek Canyon drive might be my fave drive...can't decide!) lol How in the WORLD did you get a spot!? When I got my van in October I looked online and nothing was available for months on end! I've taken that Steamboad out on the lake and it's really beautiful...took so many photos....at leaat now I know what to expect if I'm ever able to spend the night there, thanks for the information.

How freaking gorgeous is this area?! I wouldn't be able to leave..... well maybe in the summer when it's really hot :) But this would be "my spot" in the winter for sure. Too bad it's so expensive, right? But the area itself is so beautiful and I am hoping there are camping areas around there that are cheaper. I wonder how much those big campers spent with full hook-up there?

Great location right on the water, but for the price they are charging they should really clean their bathroom/shower, the sink alone was filthy. I hope you wore your shower shoes !!! Have a great week, Chantelle :-)
