Well, I thought Duality was in rotation this week... apparently not. Turns out it's Ghosts of the Deep week, the one master dungeon I never bothered getting around to due to the sheer length of the run, and the entrance being slow to have to repeat each time. To be honest though, it's probably more challenging than most raid solos I've done recently. The amount of one hits and combos that can wipe you out, even with Banner of War x4 and Woven Mail up is crazy.
Ecthar is definitely the hardest part of this, particularly surviving through the DPS phase. This run was actually awful, pushing a 5 phase (I think) when in practice I had it as a consistent 2 phase, with potential for a 1 phase, especially if Strand Surge was in rotation. Final boss was a 6 phase I think, where it should be a consistent 5 phase, or a 4 phase with optimal ammo drops and no interference.
Outside of that, I think hunter would still be better option for this. Being able to go invis on demand, along with your DPS on Ecthar being from the super for survivability would be much better for consistency. Titan is still crazy strong, but there's scenarios in this where enemies can melt you through all of the buffs during damage if you get unlucky. If I didn't throw all of the damage phase starts, or waste the grapple point, this run would seem a lot better.
Still, I'm happy it's out of the way finally, even if I wasn't expecting it to appear for another 3 weeks. That's all of the solo master dungeons done flawlessly now, and I'll redo Duality and Spire whenever they come around.

I imagine we will kill a projection of the Witness in the campaign and then in the raid Oryx style. I'd prefer it if they actually left it until the end of episode 3 though, it will feel a bit strange if killing him isn't the final act of Destiny 2 before Destiny 3 is announced.

Just the other day I tried to Solo Ghost regular version and didn't have the patience to grind Simmumah until success, and this guy spends a whole hour solo-ing Master mode I wish I had 10% of this man's skills

I was able to get it a while back. Honestly the thing that killed me was forgetting symbols or forgetting to read them before killing lightbearers and forgetting about moths. The constant repetition lead to complacency and it would just slip the mind. I think it was around 7 or 8 tries getting to final boss with only one being a death to the ads. My final run was 2 hours long with the final boss fight taking an hour 20 on its own. Master is just another level of focus though. Having to not only think about mechanics but also sometimes just getting beamed by wizards is scary. Hella props to eso for this.

I swear with a good survivability build staying alive isn't that hard. The hard part is keeping up the concentration and patience. I swear I'm still happy about abusing that funny weapon glitch weekend for this. Otherwise it would take me like 2hrs+. I probably wouldn't even try then cuz I'd be afraid of loosing my connection or some since it's not a rare thing to loosing the connection to d2 servers😂

The amount of health that Ecthar has is truly insane. AND he has a shield you have to take down first. Not to mention the mechanics that are all going on during this fight as well. Bungie wanted to inflict maximum pain during this encounter.

Recently did master run with friends and oh boy i cant even open deep side or dunk the buff with banner of war 4x i pop up my super couple of times to prevent dead , master difficulty is really something in this dungeon hats down to you sir as always you knocked out of the park

I did a master run the other day. There's a trick you can do with deepsight to animation cancel it and not be bludgeoned to death by the boss. On Warlock at least if you Phoenix Dive into the deepsight and trigger it while your dive animation is still finishing you don't get forced to stand still and the deepsight still works. Hope that helps.

I did it solo (normal mode and not flawless) for rank 11 when it came out and I was done, I practiced for a week until I was able to get it done... I know he's doing it now with the new artifact mods and meta builds for this season, but still, this is crazy!

I’ve tried this on regular a handful of times, and each time 2/3s of the way though the final boss the deep sight and symbols glitch out, causing me to die. So discouraging.

How do you know which water wall to go through at the final boss to get the symbols? Are they random, or are there set locations for each symbol?

There is 3 room only behind the water walls, with 2 entry each, and the symbols spawn randomly so there is no logic behind this I think

The lore of it is cool and all but both of these boss encounters are bullet sponges with gigachad levels of enemy saturation. If Eso had optimal DPS phases every time, even he'd still need 3 phases on Ecthar at minimum. Then Simmumah, a mobile twitchy wizard damaged mainly with precision, has even more health as a sick troll. Plus a laundry list of chores in between each of the minimum 5 phases it'll take less skilled teams. And to top that, their health scales with fireteam size so 3 Esos wouldn't have done this faster.

Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon, especially the Final Boss is still one of my least favorite activities in Destiny 2. It really feels like Bungie made this Dungeon out of spite because of people always asking for harder content. Super tanky bosses (Yes I know this video is Master difficulty), Lucent Hive = Moth spam and Hive Guardian spam. Not to mention the 20 minute under water marathon going from first checkpoint to first boss.
