I hadn't heard of these solo sheets! Just tried them today and they work nicely. I like the idea of limiting yourself to one or two pieces of paper. It's easy to start adding too many books, then you're constantly flipping pages and ruminating about which book to use instead of just keeping your mind supple and playing. Having everything on the same sheet is genius and really keeps the game moving. I think if you just add treasure tables to these you'll be all set!

00:33 How does character creation work here, though? I mean, if I understand correctly, this is supposed to be a standalone thing one could just pick up and play, but I couldn’t find anything about character creation and/or stats anywhere. Some creatures, on the other hand, do come with some (slightly confusing) stats, so I suppose playing this would actually require a precognition of a certain system, right? Now, I can imagine using other resources as reference, but most of those tend to be thick and heavy shelf-materials, difficult to carry around…

Similar questions have already been asked on the game’s itch page, and the creator has kindly replied some of them over there. That said, a brief summary would definitely come in handy, indeed.

Great video! I ordered white box the other day after watching your video on chaos reigns so it’s nice to see it all in action. I do actually have one question about chaos reigns, do you add a classes to hit bonus to attacks or do you ignore it like abilities?
@Chaoclypse10 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! I ignore the to-hit bonus. Fighters do get a large advantage by being able to use any weapon and a faster increase in Hit Dice.

What do you think, why in white box FMAG, some mechanics are missing, such as % in lair, castles, evasion and pursuit? These are the rules which were in the original books?...
@schmecklez10 ай бұрын
having never yet played a solo rpg, i wonder if its the system or moreso your playstyle that spends extra time rolling how far the monsters are and passing up the RP element of why or how a sleep spell would put undead lizardmen to sleep. Still this looks handy and fun as a condensed solo rpg

This was a great video! What was the motivation behind the combat hack? Didn't like the original rules?
@Chaoclypse10 ай бұрын
I had been using Chainmail man to man combat for a bit and also Wolves rules by Luke Gearing and I really enjoyed some aspects of them (that didn’t really feature heavily in this video) such as higher HD characters getting multiple moves and different weapons having different specialties. For example, the mace is better against armor, and the greatsword can allow for another attack attempt on a kill. I also like how it beefed up fighters due to their faster advancement in HD, and foregoing to hit bonuses means less to track. I made the system so I could run multiple characters in combat easily while also having said nuance! Hope that answers the question.

I have a question about your Chaos Reigns supplement. I currently have a level 4 Fighter that has a +6 to hit. Normally to he would have to roll a 10 on a d20 to hit an AC of 3 [16]. That's a 55% chance. With your supplement he would only need to roll a 3 or higher on 2d6. That's a huge increase in the chance to hit. Am I missing something?
@Chaoclypse10 ай бұрын
Heya! With Chaos Reigns, there is no increase in the ability to hit. However, you can deal multiple attacks to various enemies adjacent to you by dividing your HD up as separate actions or focusing your attack on one enemy. In this case, for example, if the latter is done, the level 4 fighter can pool up to 3 extra HD into an attack and if it hits, deals that attack’s damage + 3. I hope this helps!

31:04 They are undead, is it reasonable that they can sleep? In the same way they should be immune to poisons, diseases and suffocation, right?
@Chaoclypse8 ай бұрын
Definitely! It's something that came up in one of my recent OD&D solo megadungeon playthroughs and I treated undead as immune to sleep. Just made a mistake here is all :D
@the_epipan8 ай бұрын
@@Chaoclypse Taking this into account, the undead seem quite threatening/dangerous, because in addition to those 4 immunities they are also immune to dialogue/charisma, loss of morale/fear, thirst and hunger. It's a good thing they tend to be slow and stupid. Also, I like the thing about Burning Wheel in which the animated corpses only have a short "lifespan" because they rot and fall apart... and a fresh undead is at its maximum but as the months go by it becomes more and more slow and fragile until it ends up falling apart unable to move after just over 1 year. Something personal that I have is to consider that the dead are animated, I mean, the mechanics of this reanimation is a kind of energy or a small spirit or fragment of spirit is impregnated with the corpose that a magician, sorcerer or necromancer can program as if it were a robot (that's why those animated corpses do not contain anything of what they were in life, because in reality they are just puppets or "necromantic robots"). A Lich would be different because it is a soul/spirit/ghost that binds/ties itself to the material world with an anchor (like phylactelia) and possesses a corpse to use as a vessel to interact with the world. I wonder how they would prevent the decomposition of the flesh... I suppose they could use something like the Mummy movie in which that Egyptian priest stole the flesh of victims to reconstruct his own body... perhaps a Lich could do this from time to time to maintain themselves indefinitely, and that is why they choose to possess their own corpse instead of possessing armor (in addition to because they are somewhat narcissistic and really want to keep their own bodies).
