As I finished this short trip through this scenic and wild place, I thought "I wish I could thank all of those who fought to preserve this special place so I and others could have this experience." Spaces like these allow us to escape our daily lives and reconnect with nature. Our spirits are better because of it.

That shot of you retrieving water at the end of day 1 was exquisite. Great composition and framing. May these places remain unspoiled eternally.

Thanks John, funny story about that shot as it wasn't planned. I found a camp up high with good views for sunset. Unfortunately it had no water source and I was out of water. I spotted that pool of water which was about a .25 mile down a side trail. Just as I was about to get the water, I noticed the sun was setting. I quickly set up the camera for that clip. When I got home to look through all the footage, it turned out to be one of my favorite clips of the trip. Sometimes, unplanned events turn out to be the best ones. Cheers!

Thanks for the comment Summit Seeker. The Olympics are something else. As much as I love the high up places, I find the forests there every bit amazing. Cheers!

Another great video. ONP is such a special special place. There’s nothing in the US that’s like it. That sunset you had night one too - WOW! What a special night.

@@tweedytreksWas perusing the comments and saw yours. Some day you have to do the Grand Loop. There are a few variations of it and Cascadia has a video of it as well. There is also a 70+ mile open loop (if you have a partner so you can park at two near to each other trailheads) that involves the Enchanted Valley at one end and the North Fork Quinalt at the other (Skyline Trail or N. Fork Quinalt Trail). It involves the three drainages that make Mt. Anderson the hydrographic apex of the range: Quinalt, Dosewallips, and the Elwha. Don’t know that I’ll ever get the time off to do it all at once, but maybe someday.

@@Olympic_TryAthlete yeah I went to do the grand loop a couple years ago but bailed to the inner loop of it - I didn't have it that day. I've done enchanted valley and the O'Neil pass and stuff and tried to do skyline the last two years but the fire closed the trail. I definitely want to get back and do the grand though. I love ONP. Such a unique place.

Great video!! Been thinking about doing a similar trip. How busy were the trails? Did you come across a lot of other people?
@cascadiahiking

Hi @joecondit856, I did the trip on a Mon-Tues which I'm sure helped. It's a popular route as you probably know. I'd imagine the weekends would see a lot more "hikers" doing the route in one day along with the backpackers doing a multi-day trip. If you're able, I'd shoot for during the week. While I did come across others, it never felt overwhelming. Hope that helps!

@@cascadiahiking Awesome, helps a lot! Do you have to get a permit for this spot? I currently have a permit for Deer lake and Lower Bridge Creek but really want to see the sunset on the mountains!
@cascadiahiking
@cascadiahiking 3 ай бұрын
I had a permit for a place nearby. I came to that spot just before sunset. It was a single spot, and nobody was using it. I guess I got lucky. I would recommend calling the ranger station, describe the location to see if it is on their list and see if they can change you to that spot. Then you won't have to worry if someone else has that spot reserved. Cheers!

He who follows the Tao is at one with the Tao. He who is virtuous Experiences Virtue. He who loses the way Feels lost. When you are at one with the Tao, The Tao welcomes you. When you are one with Virtue, The Virtue is always there. When you are at one with loss, The loss is experienced willingly. He who does not trust enough Will not be trusted. He who trusts himself fully is one with nature. Tao Te Ching of Lao Tzu Chapter 23, (translated by JH McDonald)
