Solo Kayak Hunt in HIGH WIND | Duck Hunting with COOT Decoys

Matt is out for a solo kayak hunt with his 28 gauge. He brings out a good-sized spread of coots and ducks and sets up in a protected cove. High winds are in the forecast and the weatherman got it right. Matt watches ducks throughout the morning and bags some as well. It was another great day of duck hunting.

Those divers swimming fast towards you gets my heart going. My cousin used to have Nova Scotia duck tolling dog many years ago. We would sit behind a big rock close to the shoreline. Throw a stick, tossing back and forth, the dog, orange color like fox, would attract the duck in distance. Once the ducks were close, awful close most of the times, we would blaze away the guns. That was back in the mid 70’s. Good times.

Oh man you know it's been a slow morning when you put a sandhills Gadwall on the strap! Really enjoyed this one, beautiful marsh and it seemed like the migration was kicking into gear throughout the morning
