Solo-Launching a Big Boat

LAUNCHING ALONE.
This is how I launch my boat when I’m alone.
I will walk you through the steps I use to launch my 25-foot Flamingo singlehanded.
LAUNCH AT YOUR OWN RISK! MAKE SURE YOUR OUTBOARD OR OUTDRIVE IS OVER THE WATER BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT SAFETY CHAINS!
Check with your dealer for exact launching directions for YOUR BOAT. THIS METHOD IS FOR MY BOAT and is not the best method for EVERY boat.
IF YOU HAVE A ROLLER STYLE TRAILER, YOUR BOAT CAN ROLL OFF THE TRAILER AT ANY TIME!!
Please be safe on the water and leave a few fish for me!

Good demonstration. One suggestion: When you are on the dock, hold both lines and walk the boat to the end of the pier. Then step on the boat

Great video! This is how I plan to do my solo launches. Might keep the winch strap loosened and connected with a little slack, then lock the winch until I get the engine started. It’s a 37 year old engine lol.

so your video of the Flamingo inspired me to upgrade my Baronet 17ft to the same Flamingo 216, just need to complete some paperwork and get mine on the water, we are not spoilt here in Natal with a jetty to tie up to, also my slipway is alot shallower, so really hoping all will go well with first launch next weekend.

07:18 Put your stern line around the dock cleat and back to the boat, then idle foward and the boat will come along side the dock, then tie the bow line. No need to be jumping off the boat in a hurry

Haha, maybe, The back rope is just easy to get to and then to the helm.

When the winch strap is released and the boat slides back a foot or two by itself , would it not be easier to just push the boat backwards off the trailer whilst holding the rope and then " walk " the boat over to the jetty. I'm not too keen on the idea of climbing up onto the front of the boat from the trailer , especially if it is wet with dew or a shower of rain. Also that allows you to have the motor fully raised so it doesnt hit anything on the way off. That's what I do. ( maybe this boat is too heavy to push back , but you would think if it slid un-aided back a bit and the boat was almost floating that you could push it back.

Thanks for the comment and observation. The boat is too heavy to push back, I just slide a bit but even with the motor as you can see on video it even takes time and a lot of power to revers it off. Pushing it is not a option I had tried but to heavy.

1% of people can climb of the sharp end of the trailer over the bow rail & into the boat. 90% of boats fall off a multi roll trailer on an inclined ramp, with you not init. Double fail.
