Hey guys, so if you watched the whole video then you know the point of this video was me pointing out that this game is a good balance between f2p and p2w (not choosing one or the other) and that we should at the very least give it 2 months AFTER global launch to really see how it pans out.

I believe judging a game before it comes out is EXACTLY the right time to do so. Mostly because if we wait until release to point out the things that are wrong, it might be too late and lead to launch failure (like we’ve seen happen to so many of our loved games). Yes the game is enjoyable without spending anything, but IT IS p2w. When you pay you win more characters and weapons (more varied gameplay content), you win more resources (leading to more content in the way of interacting with the game’s system), you win more power (which in turn wins you leaderboards and events and therefore materials), and the more you pay the more you make players who pay less or don’t pay win less and interact less with the game’s mechanics because of it. I DONT think it is a good balance just because you can clear some story content and get to partake a little in raising a very few select items and artifacts and you get to join events you have no chance of winning. Balanced p2w would be if you could partake in EVERY content regularly with lower resource outcome but still some outcome to retain the sensation of progression while interacting with all the game's systems frequently in a reasonable and respectful amount of time investment. And by paying you would simply increase the same metrics. That's balanced! Having said that, Imho I think a re-balancing of the current systems can result in a p2w that is not so disrespectful to free and low paying players and even more respectable to high spenders than it currently is.

@SnoOwpro u should never try to WIN an event as an f2p. That's not considered balanced. That's false hope. So an example in this video, I got 4th place today on the dragon as f2p, lower lvl and using Srs only. I ranked 20th in the timed events for baruka with same account. I also am finishing story and doing well on most events. I think people are blaming p2w concept rather than studying the game a bit more. This game, in its current state is balanced imo. What it has is flaws in its systems. What the future holds is something else and I can't predict that

@@PayneBlade I never said win, I meant having a chance at a little something in order to keep it fun. (like changing the ladders to be power-based for example, allowing for healthy competition). Your good placement, although SR only, comes from the fact you had a previous P2W account that gave you ample knowledge and experience (knowing which characters and weapons to pull and artifacts to level, where to spend and save currency, etc). A new f2p or low spender will need to have MANY months or even years into the game before getting to that level specially if they make wrong decisions if things remain the same (which may cause a lot of frustation and dislike) I'm just saying they could and should try to balance it MORE to ease the burden of those decisions, to allow for more experimentation and therefore more time and fun with the game and its systems. My opinions are super biased from being let down so many times by so many games. Regardless, one thing is for sure independent of our differing opinion on how p2w or f2p it is, we love the game and really want it to succeed. I'm just a little less hopeful I guess... on the company and the evolving state of gacha games as a whole. My discontent comes from a good place of wanting gachas to do better by the player. Making money and caring about the players doesnt have to be mutually exclusive Thanks for listening and replying Payne. @@kuroko6441 Thats a fair interpretation. And it’s true, you CAN accomplish most things currently in the game as a F2P player given enough time. So in this sense, I agree it is F2P friendly. Maybe I’m just a little salty because i love the IP, and I wanted this game to be one where we would be able to “Access the content” (get one copy of every character and weapon and level things up to play with everything) as they release in a reasonable amount of time spending a reasonable amount of money. But as it stands, even spending what to me feels like a lot, I’ve yet to get many characters and many weapons. And a lot of the ones I have I can’t level up to play with. And if I level something thats underpowered, well… there goes more time without accessing content I want. And this loop feels bad imho.

I think people confuse "pay to win" with things like "pay to progress faster". This is a PvE game. You're not "winning" by paying money, you're just paying to move through the game faster than people that don't pay. People confuse this with not only Solo Leveling Arise, but with other games.

In a general and broad sense this is PVP (Player versus player (PvP) is a type of gameplay in video games that involves competition between two or more human players).

If the Game has ranked content then it's not a PVE game, take a look at Power of destruction u need to rank top 3 to get the chance to get the resources needed to get craft ssr hunter gear. anyone saying this is a PVE game is lying. also clearly in the future, more ranking game modes will happen.

my biggest issue is that i cant be excited to pull units, i dont even want to spend money to summon, because i know when i pull a new cool unit or weapon, i wont have the Gold, weapon EXP, or artifact exp to level any of them........ it's a dumb pay2win system at it's core, it's unfun

@@kuronekonyan never felt that way everytime in storymode for example i had to wait...the next day i was rdy :) and later there is nothing else gated behind your lvl... ok even more later there comes new game modes at lvl 70 may be 80...100 and so on but i am confident that stuff isnt just for whales and 3 months later f2p get there also i hate it...everytime i lvl up i also have to lvl up at least my main 3 hunters... that stuff gets so expensiv :)

Here's my F2P take on the game: Initial thoughts are that I LOVE IT!! I've put a lot of hours into it and have been enjoying it, until recently. I find the game has plateued, I'm at a stage in the game where my power level can't finish missions, gates or the story. I am officially stuck. There isn't enough gold distribution to keep players playing. Power scaling is confusing and doesn't seem accurate. Mechanics wise, the 'Lock on' mechanic is absolute trash, pointless! If I attack whilst locked on, no matter where I'm facing, the attack should hit the target, but Solo Leveling's lock on mechanic is just pointless. Overall, now I'm happy to log in daily,. get my rewards and log out. The game doesn't feel rewarding for the amount of time I've put in, and its a real shame.

yeah currently the main issue is just lack of gold especially for f2p, even i have to buy special gold pack for 500 essence every day cause there's no way to get that much gold without spending $, and i hope netmarble fix the cost when taking off the artifact cause that's too much gold just for that specific thing, but yeah this game is still f2p friendly like genshin impact imo :)

As a ftp player, Clearly say that it's not a p2w game, personally even if I stuck in any chapter or level then I have to focus on powering up or leveling up my teams via gates, artifacts etc.. And that's what make this game more interesting to me, having difficulty in clearing what makes a game enjoyable. It make no sense if they give us everything and we clear all floors smoothly without having any difficulty.

Im f2p and i finished the normal story at 154k power. I agree this is balance coz you have chance to get SSR if you are patient with your resources. You can even make multiple accounts just to compare which has the better rng. Some ppl consider this f2p coz they compare theirselves too much on the rankings of luckier players or maybe p2w. But as payne said, the devs main goal is to make money. If f2p gets bored and quit, the devs dont care as long as the game survives.

The game is p2w 10/10 might be for early access but on the main character alone more than 10 objectives cost gold to level up only (2 weapons [mid game you need more], skills, stats, artifacts, blessings, etc within those systems multiple things need to be done with gold needed) then you need 3 characters of every element to be sufficient. Hard mode you need to level up useless sr's and it goes on. Gold was designed to be a problem because every pack has more than 5x the f2p amount gained. Every event needs gold to barely complete the first 5 levels. The game is very grindy gates 14 so far, a lot of bosses more content to come barely any gold income.

Oh shoot I didn’t know you played grand cross! I’ve been a day 1 player of grand cross and still play to this way and it’s definitely made bad decisions here and there but it’s so f2p friendly but people sometimes get stuck on this one thing they really disliked and can’t seem to let it go. First let's ask ourselves a question! The majority of players are f2p or p2w? Ofc the answer gonna be f2p, specially after they're marketing for themselves as a f2p friendly game. The game is not p2w for sure, as you said it's more like Pay to Advance or Pay for Faster progress. Will the game be p2w? I don't think so, but if the game did. It's gonna be a huge loss for NetMarble. 1) NetMarble will lose the majority of their players. And for sure p2w players will not play with each other cuz they're few. The game will be empty. 2) it's gonna be a big scar on NetMarble's face, and people might not play any future games when they see the name cuz of that. 3) even some people might not watch the anime as they know how greed the whole system is and they might get traumatized of the Solo Leveling name. If you think netmarble has a reputation to preserve at this point you dont know the company. 7ds is probably netmarbles biggest game overall and will be for a long while and its a joke. These companies know who they need to cater to and at the end of the day it is NOT the f2p. from ur perspective game is not p2w but because we have events like power of destruction whole battlefield of time or any other where u need better time and even second count game is p2w. You get so much resource to be better and stronger and border beewteen f2p and p2w will only grow up from these rewards maybe not in one week but in whole month that will be Huge diffrence also You cant compete with someone who have a5 plum and a5scythe even on lvl 60 on dark version of the dragon while u have these wpns on a1 or a0. Another mode u CANT kill last boss battlefield of time challange enough fast to compete with other players where if u are 1 2 3 u get blue desgain what u need for weapons to go past 60 lvl. My example i ended as 21 rank on baruka bcs this boss was purely dps check and bcs emma have awesome q skill what one shot whole group of mobs u can try to get under 45 sec whole fight when i dont have emma what i needed the most so i end only with min and choi with time of 1:28 bcs clearing the mobs take for me like 30+ seconds. I like the game and i will play further but someone who pay in this game can be number 1 2 3 24/7 and even with good skill u cant overcome that

just remember you aren't ever going to compete with big spenders. that's just life. you don't try and compete with a ferrari if you are driving a civic but it doesn't mean u can't do well. TBH with the Baruka fight, there were some f2p that were managing 59 seconds because they had the right units. It isn't necessarily about paying but just having the right pieces at the right time.

The thing is though, is that having an SR only account hit a roadblock only proves that you can't beat the game with only SRs. Simple as that. Like if you choose to not use the SSRs that the game QUITE LITERALLY GIVES YOU FOR FREE then you can't really consider the game P2W. Like this game is surprisingly super liberal with summons, especially early on. Bro you even GET AN SSR HUNTER AND WEAPON FREE for just logging in, On Top of an SSR Sung Weapons free with a dupe.

It's made by Netmarble so that p2w reaction is to be expected...but at the end of the day, f2ps and spenders will keep on playing the game if they're still having fun, whales will whale, it's not an mmo so the game will still function even with lesser players. Most people who are playing the game like the ip coz why tf would they bother playing a Netmarble game if they don't, that alone is its staying power. Most Netmarble games always cater for Paying Players with PVP and Leaderboard. Simply Pay for progress. F2P can still enjoy but takes a lot longer.

I love this game so much, but it’s not a PVE game. Just because you don’t fight another player, doesn’t mean it’s not PvP based. When there are leaderboards that give rewards, it’s no longer PVE. Sure you fight PVE content but you also try to place higher than other players. This is the PvP part of the game.

It's a competitive game but by nature everything has leaderboards. I'm competing against an npc to win rewards which other players are as well. I don't feel the same level of player vs player compared to fighting against another player personally. Pvp to me will always be me vs another player

I just think anytime you’re ranking against other players or competing with them on events, it takes away from the game being PVE. A PVE game to me would be something with zero leaderboards and no way to compete against other players for ranking rewards.

Cuz, I´m asking me a question, how to get tickets in the late state of the game, or do I have to convert the Essence Stones to normal tickets? I think there’s nothing wrong with a game being pay to win as long as the free to play aspect isn’t designed to be painful to coerce them to turning into pay to win players My problem with most pay to win games(like diablo immortal) is that they’ve designed it in a predatory way to not just make money, but design predatory ways to make money Like I said (i think in your previous video) I will be weaning myself away from this game, as much as I’m enjoying it now, why? When I reached my limit it's enough. In the first place, I played this game to enjoy because I love solo leveling so much. I personally think the game is very free to play friendly and it feels just as fair as any major PVE gacha game like hsr or genshin impact. I do however find the in-game to events to be very annoying not even because you most likely won't able to finish them as f2p but because it encourages saving/hoarding basic resources like artifact mats, weapon mats and even gold. It feels like you are discouraged to push your account and get stronger because leveling things without that specific event is not optimal. It feels terrible in my opinion but I do however think it will gradually get better late game when you hit max lvl and finish all the stages.

Day 1 player, 7ds grandcrosss, most of the events right now is stale but it was a great game throughout the years, the game mode i love the most is pvp, it'll have some p2w metas but the majority of the time I'm in the top leagues with my F2p teams, its definitely not p2w

As a low spender(just the two monthly bundles) and a grand cross player I can agree that netmarble is kinda harsh on the f2ps but they give out many rewards if you play daily and complete every little event and mission. Although the p2w is widely better as far as progression is concerned the f2ps and low spenders can still have fun, I would say more than whales cuz we actually have to grind

Not exactly, I've been demoted twice to normal mode. Can't exactly say the reason why but I believe if you barely do any damage the game puts you back down to level 40. That's what happened the second time for me. ​@@PayneBlade

Me and my friend talked about this earlier. We were comparing the rewards we get from clearing every stage and challenges, up to the point where the spike hits hard usually starts at ch14. You get 120 tix straight from the challenges alone. Think youre able to achieve almost 200 tickets w/o spending the essence or at least on your earlier rolls when you try to build a team. the hard part is specially with the rng. though youd have at least 20k essence you can use to pull more. To me the game is fairly just. hoping the gem mechanics wont involve too much spending in any case hope they can be bought using essence instead.

Couldn't disagree more on the note of "if you have a game that's too f2p, companies die and the games shut down". Several big names in the space that come to mind are Azure Lane and Girls Frontline, another newer title would be Limbus Company. Also your definition of p2w feels extreme, a mobile gacha game where you have to pay money to beat stages would never survive. Netmarble is a game company that buy's into the ultra-capitalist "greed is good" mentality, obviously they add all this glitz and glamour to the product and allow you play it for free but make no mistake the whole point is to EVENTUALLY get you to spend money, once you spend, its common to keep spending, there's plenty of psychological studies that you can look to for evidence of this. You can still enjoy the game, I am for now, the gameplay is fun. The fact we have two more gear upgrade systems being added before any way to target stats on gear is concerning though. The way the game is designed more and more resources are funneled to the top RANKED players. Sure there's no direct PvP but we have leaderboards upon leaderboards, which are a form of competition no need to beat around the bush, the higher you rank the more likely you are to continue to rank highly regardless of changes in spending habits. The game is designed to funnel rare resources to big spenders and before long I think its going to burn out light spenders/f2p if quality of life changes like sweeps for all gates already cleared one before are not added within two months of global launch. The amount of content you need to manually play daily for often times no meaningful progress on your account is kinda ridiculous after a month of playing.

Azure lane and girls Frontline started p2w as I played both. Epic 7 which is super friendly also started p2w. 7ds also started p2w and so on. The game has been out 0 official global days and people already saying it's too p2w when it's very balanced. Even in leaderboards, you don't need first place to benefit from rewards. Any rewards that this game has to offer u can get elsewhere so there is no exclusivity atm. The whole point of ANY gacha company is to make you spend. This is why I remind people to be smart about their spending. They don't care about you or me. They care about our money but that's any big business. In regards to time consumption on this game, I've played afk games that take longer (echocalypse comes to mind) so I don't mind this but I do think the gate system needs adjustment

Have you seen how those 3 games look? They are super cheap to maintain the animated png gameplay cost for creating new units must be like 5-10% of the cost of a new unit in this game. They are completely different games you can't expect a game that potentially cost hundreds of thousands to maintain for a full year to be as free to play friendly as games that cost much less to the company. You should be comparing them to newer games with higher graphics. Also its not like those games are moving the needle too much in terms of revenue Girls frontline is pretty much dead in global and Azur lane is not top 15 and both their devs are already either working on a bigger game or have one that is doing better. Limbus company is doing even worse than Girls Frontline China and as you say that game is "new" and is the most decent looking one out the three you mentioned.

I agree with you 100%. Company has to make their money and the game has to have some kind of factor to slow down progression and give players something to work towards. If it is too easy people will quit. The game is not too easy and not too hard. I enjoy playing the game.

the game isn't well balanced, at level 53 i started to face power of destruction in hard, i'm obviously far from 178k power, i can barely do 5M damage with the 2 teams ... Same thing for gates. Not being in top rank it's a big loss of ressources, i think this is why players complain.

It gets better in the lategame (im lvl 62), still gold is a problem, but it's nowhere near as in the start. You occasionally have 300-500k constantly, then it drops down to 100k then back up again. Since you work on gear, weapons etc.

I have to say you define "pay to win" in a very unusual way. Most people, by far, consider pay to win as when you CAN pay to win, which is absolutely the case in SLA (and every gacha game). Your understanding of pay to win seems to define it as: You HAVE to pay in order to win. Keep up the content though, loving it!

bruh, it's PVE. You CAN Pay2Win if this has a PVP feature. It's correct to define it as Pay2Progress Faster. I have 2 accounts as well, with an F2P and Paid. They were on the same level. Same Story progress. Can compete with the rankings. You can only progress so much in SLA since the story ends, the mission completes and you are basically done - then the F2Ps will follow - they were just delayed by days or week at most. Plus the SR were not trash at all - a lot of gacha games made their R/SR so trash you basically need an SSR. This is not the case in SLA.

In this game, which is PVE-based, you achieve winning by beating the PVE content (or ranking higher than other players). As such, this game is absolutely pay to win. As the game progresses the gap between paying and free account is going to be bigger and bigger. With all the challenges/rewards (good ones) gated behind classement the game is dead in advance as a free to play. Hopefully it changes but with the systems leaked it is for sure going to be systems on systems to boost power with money the only real option to keep up. If you play for your progress and don’t care for others maybe you can enjoy the slow progress but if you want the satisfaction to see your name even in the 10 first of a challenge, run. And let’s be real if you don’t get in the first 10 you don’t get shit

tbh FF7 Ever crisis does that and people still complain. there is a stage that takes 0 stamina (their energy system) and has unlimited exp gain (very small amount) but people still complain about it. Issue will always be that people want what they want in a good denomination and gacha games aren't about doing that
