Throughout the American woodlands, children, hunters, hikers, and the occasional hobo marvel at the well-crafted shelters they discover. @MrSheckstr3 жыл бұрын
It would be “interesting “ is taken with some consideration. 1 any shelter requires regular maintenance. 2 take into consideration vandalism by both the two legged and four legged variety. 3 a survival shelter is to provide protection from the elements while the occupant either awaits rescue/extraction, or otherwise improves their living situation. If the occupant is expecting to be in this location for several months to a year than a portion of their daily activities beyond collecting resources should be spent in the creation of an improved shelter with enough room for the occupant to sit stand and lay down and keep more and more resources protected from the elements

Would love to see a video where you revisit all of these shelters and how they stand up. Great stuff.

It amazes me how few rocks you encounter while digging. In my area your lucky if you can drive in a tent stake!

Same here. I'd love to see a video using rocky soil to come up with something good.

I use 6 inch steel nails with a washer. Cheap and effective for caliche areas. You can use a stick as a handle and some 550 coord to pull em up.

Doesn't have to be just one overnighter you could always come back to the same spot and camp in the same shelter

That's a sound idea. And what's even better is he could add improvements to the structure and the surrounding area. Such as: stopping the small leak, tailoring the fire lay, backwoods furniture and a toilet area. It could happen✏📏🔨👍😊⚓🇺🇸

Yes. Typically a build like this is intended for long-ish shelter in place survival. I would have to have it at least twice as high and wide for me as I tend to get a little claustrophobic and don’t want to feel like I built my own coffin. It probably would take me another day or two longer to complete but that’s the sacrifice I would have to make.

I think it may be a good idea to dig downward to increase the interior space.

@@barrycartner3855 That depends a lot on the slope of the land (drainage), as well as water table and soil type (seepage), but with the right conditions, that could become and awesome long-term shelter.
