if you toss and turn in your sleep, you'll end up off of the sleeping bag and soaked. If the wind changes direction as you sleep (common with rain-storms) you get soaked. so I use a net hammock and a reflective tyvek bivy that gives me complete protection. If it's too hot to be completely covered by the bivy, I use a pair of Amazon full body bugnet "suits", 1/4 lb each. some bugs can bite thru one layer of netting, but not two. if there's only one tree, I can either rig up a staked down, guyed-out tripod for the foot end of my hammock (set just 6" off of the ground) or I can use the hammock as a "slingchair, with a pile of brush and my backpack between me and the tree trunk and my feet/lower legs up on another pile of brush, iin the reclining position.

Great evening and a very good tasty hot dog! :) BTW any chance to show building a poncho shelter when it's actually hard raining? Are there any tricks how to get from wearing the poncho to attaching it to the line while getting as little wet as possible?

never trust just one stick to hold your food over a fire. Always brace the main stick with another one, or you'll see your food in the fire, mud, etc.

You can't go wrong with Wieners on a stick 😋

if it's cold, and especially if it's also windy, getting wet is VERY dangerous, especially if you dont have spare, dry clothing. Ground sleeping sucks, man. learn to lay on a hammock catty-corner and you wont have the "sagging back' issue. and you CAN sleep on your side in a hammock, if you know how. When I turn over in a hammock, it wakes me, but the sedative normally knocks me out again, IF I have the earplugs and sleep mask. It's quite unbelievable how loud insects, frogs, birds and rubbing branches can be.

SEDATIVES, guys, earplugs and a sleep mask If you go 48 hours with no sleep, you'll be worthless, so SEE to it that you get your rest, every 16 hours or so
