Hi, good vid thanks for sharing. some good bushcrafty skills on show there, fair play to you for testing yourself (albeit inadvertently) with the limited kit.

Thanks Gavin. Was good to get out. Just goes to show how much stuff you can take that you don't need. ATB Muddy.

Thanks John! It was a great little setup and I was very comfortable. I might try ditching more kit in the future. I think that it's easy to forget that bushcraft is about knowledge, not kit! ATB Muddy

Well, when a real emergency arises won't be the time to "practice" so having a chance to adapt to available resources/kit in more forgiving circumstances was actually a boon for you. Nice patience with the flint & steel. Gorse may not be your top choice for tinder, but it sure did seem to work great. And good of you to show that even after investing the time and effort to construct bushcraft amenities such as the tripod and firewall, that it is still important to leave no trace when breaking camp.

+Mark Martin Thank you so much Mark. I'm glad that you are able to enjoy my local area through these vids. The BIC lighter is a great idea and i shall have to get one for emergencies. Burgers and bacon and cheese rolls sound fantastic. They are now on the menu for next time! ATB Muddy.

YA know Muddy if you check out carlisle 195 channel one of his videos shows a stealth fire pit called a "Dakota fire pit" plenty of heat but it puts off very very little smoke for extra stealth! Mark in Texas.

+Mark Martin I've seen loads of his stuff and have used the Dakota fire pit a few times myself. The problem i have had in my woodland is that there used to be a lot of gravel pits and trying to dig through the pebbles and gravel is very difficult! Thanks for the suggestion though. I shall keep testing the ground!
