Solo Sabers ‘SK 2.0’ With A Custom Hybrid Chassis

I have really been looking forward to showing this one off! This is a custom 2.0 SK that was built by my good friend Jeremy at Solo Sabers. It was also laser etched by our good friend Cole Weathers. Jeremy graciously asked me to install one of my hybrid chassis in this hilt, and I really wanted to put something special in it. So Jeremy was a bit of a guinea pig on this one.
I took inspiration from one of my favorite chassis designers, the great Martin Beyer, on this one. Martins Metal Master Origin chassis is a work of art in my opinion. And I have always wanted to try a clear door or gate in front of a crystal chamber. So the chamber in this build is a nod to him. But BEFORE I went forward with this build, I did what I feel is the right thing to do, and that was to reach out to Martin directly and get his blessing. I have had the pleasure of speaking with Martin a couple of times over the years, and he is an absolute gentleman and game me the go ahead and blessing to move forward with the build. (And asked for final pics with Jeremy and his hilt as well!).
We all pull inspiration from one maker or another, and I feel as though it is a given that you give those people shout outs and recognition when the time comes. Its just how things should be done in my opinion. I believe it is a respect kind of thing that often gets overlooked.
Anyhow, there is far too much to go over in one post for this, so I have gone over a bit more in depth in the demo video. This one was a lot of fun to do, but did take quite a lot of prototyping and head scratching. Doing complex builds like this really make me appreciate folks like Martin, and Rick at Goth 3D for their attention to detail and the amount of time and labor that goes into it.
