Brilliant Nick! Just as we bemoaned not having a local club this is a great "tool" to help us become self starters :)

Great to hear it. This is by far one of the best solo drills you can do for sabre. I will discuss it more in articles and an instructional video soon.

I am also working on a Workbook designed to help those working on Taylor's 10 lessons. When it is done I'll post a video about it and link to the PDF, you will of course need an opponent to practice these parts. The ten lessons will also be covered in video lessons in time.

so those solo drills are from the first line of angelo's poster. It would be immensely useful if you could make a video lesson that shows all the movements from the poster.

Yes it is, and that is certainly on my list to do.

It's the one shown here, right? www.thearma.org/pdf/HungarianHighlandBroadsword.pdf It's nice to see it in motion, thanks. And I guess that the Naval Cutlass Exercise would look quite similar, apart from some ordering differences. (btw, "its first appearance", "which it follows")

Yes, the first line of the poster at the end of that document. I recently restored a full colour version of it, and will be showing that soon. Yes, grammar mistakes happen when you post a video at midnight after getting home from fencing :-)

Just out of curiosity - are there any badminon/squash/similar-players at the academy? If so, are the habits and muscle memories they built up for that sport affecting their learning curve with swordfighting?
@AcademyofHistoricalFencing8 жыл бұрын
Nope. I has been my experience in 20 years of swordsmanship that badminton/squash players almost never get involved with martial arts. By that I mean any dedicated ones, I played a little tennis many years ago, but nothing of note.
