So glad I got an older 2 stroke 3hp Mercury. (1994) Super reliable and so easy to run. No issues ever for me. Used to use it on a scanoe, will be great on a solo skiff. Maybe. One day, maybe. Now I use it on a plastic job boat. I've had 5 kayaks. Sit in, sit on top, fishing set ups all but one. I just an too many years (decades) in canoes. My 12 ft old town pack weighs 33 pounds, can handle 600 pounds of gear and me....paddles easier than any kayak I've had and can take my lab with if I want. I really wanted to like kayak fishing... but in the end, I gave away my last 2 to my kids this spring...and I'm just gonna stick with my canoes.

Very nice. Enjoy the vids man! SF, CA checking in. Oh dang, bulkogi tacos with kim chee. Get some large flour tortillas, add kimchee bokumbap, gochujang, bulkogi, fried egg (option), some diced kimchee, maybe some namul and roll that burrito!

I just happened to stumble across RX the other day and I'm fairly surprised! I very much enjoy the content. Might be a little biased because I'm from Houston as well lol. Been trying to find youtubers that fish the same waters and someone who actually discusses their "game plan". Been trying to get into saltwater more and saving up for a kayak. Keep up the good work man. Loving these Galveston marsh videos!

Another great video, Dr Nick! I was delighted to see you cast toward the reeds and pick up a red! I caught lots of them and flounder as well with that technique. I also appreciate the music and accompanying views in the pauses. Many thanks, Little Brother! 🤠 Say Howdy to Allison, too!

Yeah Nick, get you a Solo Skiff especially since you have experience on operating a motor. I love mine and I have a foot-controlled trolling motor installed to drift the grassy shoreline which I did last week on the other side of the 2004 Bridge last Tuesday. Fantastic video.

The Solo Skiff is great for getting to your spot faster, but the Hobie with MirageDrive kicks ass when it comes to fishability along the bank. It's one thing if you're in open water trolling around, but to be able to control your watercraft, move it and position it to fish in shallow water is key otherwise you are at the mercy of the wind and drifting and then you have to start a noisy motor to move and spook the fish. I'd take the Hobie all day long ;)

The reason I found you was because of your bote rover. Been a fan ever since....I want a solo skiff really bad and would love to see more of it. 2 weeks ago I had a bull red in the marsh...10 minuets later it turned out to be a foul hooked 4’ gg. Still fun though.

In regards to the Solo Skiff, didn't you already go that route with the Bote? Hey, I received my Old Town performance shirt today. Very much appreciated!!!!!!! Picked up my new Hobie PA 14 Monday and am currently spending far more time thanI should re-wiring Lowrance and adding some electronic adds. Trying to make it down to the Galveston area by Monday if weather will cooperate. Will send some photos via e-mail when I get it finished ( it will never be finished) and ready for the water. Thanks again Nik and as always, great vids!

Loved this video! Thanks for highlighting the Solo Skiff. Also, appreciate you sharing the TexMexican/Korean tacos. My bride loves Korean food and will check out your wife’s you tube channel. Keep sharing info about setting up your yak and fishing equipment. I have two (Hobie Mirage Sport & Ocean Kayak) yaks but they are “20” years old!! Due to working and health issues (I’m 72 years young) I have not been kayaking in a long time. However, I’m now retiring and hopefully will be able to pick up the yanking game soon. Bottom line I need a new boat and therefore I really appreciate your information. You do an excellent job! Thanks and Happy New Years!!
