We hunt pheasants next to a fairly decent sized river, no dog. I bring a heavy 6 1/2 ft casting rod with 20 lb test, throw an 8” 2x2 with treble hooks to snag and retrieve. I’m good to 40 yards.

You could take a fishing rod with you and keep several treble hooks and good’n’heavy weights and cast over those cadavers and reel them in. Just an idea. Can’t always have a boat or canoe. But a rod will at least give you a 60’ (or more) reach.

We hope there's a few more to come. We're sure you have a few tucked in the archives!! More solo's if you have any left or even some two men that means Tristin and you. Take care and stay safe.
