I've loved fly fishing for a few years now but I just don't get out often enough to consider myself graduated from that novice level, so I really appreciate your attitude of simply enjoying the journey. Glad to have found your channel.

Thanks for sharing and I’m glad you found it as well. No matter what your skill level is or the frequency of your outages, if you enjoy it when you can get out then there’s nothing better than that. Cheers!

Love your creativity! The best vibes man. Swinging flies and sleeping in a taco, all while being solo is up my alley. Loved this

Another lovely video. Love the coloring, so moody. Perfect winter steelhead vibes. I think you nailed it on interpreting the "just have confidence" advice: just keep showing up.

Beautiful video once again...unfortunate you didn't hook up with a steelhead. That shot around 6:14 is iconic.

I liked this vid alot and thanks for sharing it. I stumbled across it and at first, I was critical of your approach and casting for being a seasoned steelhead fly fisherman, then I started actually paying attention and realized you said you are semi new to most of this. Now I'm thinking your approaches and casting are actually REALLY good, considering that. Pretty impressive ! Tight lines !

Ha! That's pretty funny. Yeah I'm still plugging away and getting much better at spey casting. I definitely would rather swing for these fish rather than nymph, but sometimes you just need that confidence boost to keep you going. Glad you enjoyed the video. More to come as I get better. Cheers!

@@prolificnorthwest I'll look forward to more vids and your success! Yeah it's tough: if you commit to swinging, you will progress much faster "at swinging". But it's a huge commitment for sure. With the bobber, you will find some fish, but not necessarily fish that you could've swung-up. For me, almost a decade ago, I just committed 100% to swinging and have zero regrets. I'm not young enough to have learned how to swing them up while still nymphing here and there. But once in a while I think about euro nymphing or center pinning. But swinging them up is so fun I doubt I'll actually act on those feelings lol. I can say with confidence: you have a knack, a gift. You're way ahead of lots of people who have been swinging flies for much longer so I hope that inspires you because it's absolutely true

I 've been fly fishing in the PNW for the last few years and your production makes me fell like I'm out there in the thick of it. Really nice work and soundtrack. I was rooting for you you to connect with a steelhead. I never have but my daughter has, which was all the better. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent video on so many levels, and I sincerely enjoyed it. The footage, music and editing was pretty dang dialed in, but I was actually more impressed with your easy going straightforwardness and candor at being a “newb” at the spey game. The chrome will come… it’s worth the patient wait! … Oh, and bonus points for throwing a Beulah Platinum. Thanks for sharing!

@Bombuzzz It's considered inappropriate to name drop water shown on the web. It brings unwanted people and pressure on native fish and secret spot

I’ve been doing nothing but swinging flies for steelhead and salmon for a long time now. Take it from someone who has done the self taught learning curve, if you want to really get good at it and gain confidence leave the bobbers at home.
