Great video, Tom. Our old chiminea broke this year and so I have been considering this. If you plan to do an update video after you’ve used it some, it will be interesting to see whether the build up of ash at the bottom becomes an issue. And also whether a group of your friends/family feel the benefits of the heat from 360 degrees around the unit, rather than just from one angle. Thanks again!

Some great points you raise here! I’ll Definately be doing a follow up video, and maybe one comparing it to the 2.0 version too!

Is the “ ash color “ close to black ?? I seen pictures and this color doesn’t look that dark, how is this ash color in person the video shows almost black and I love that but if it’s like a light gray I can’t really tell, thanks for your help ! Loved the review !!

In South Africa we call thus a 'Gaelly Blik"! Basically take a big oil drum, stab holes around the bottom. Stand it up straight with the top off and boom, there's your bon fire.

Thanks for the review. Been looking for one of these. But how hot does it get underneath when using the stand ? Is it safe to use on ceramic stone tiles ?
@TomVoyageuk5 ай бұрын
Thanks, if you watch my latest review of the Bonfire 2.0, there is a part where i can touch the bottom ring when the fire has been going a while, to prove just how well these dissipate heat and how they can be used on many surfaces due to them not transferring heat through the base. I recommend you take a look at this latest video 😀

Nice Tom . I have a East Oak, which is similar to this . I hope you enjoy it. Take care.

Thanks you! It was fun to review a product that’s different to a pizza oven for a change! Always fun to have a bonfire too!

Being ceramic coated did the sides stay cool to touch?
@Borders145 ай бұрын
They do not. The sides still get very hot.

Looks good - can this really be used on composite decking without any damage?
@TomVoyageuk11 ай бұрын
From my knowledge yes, the stand allows this to be used on many surfaces, but just to double check I would contact solo stove first!

are you happy with the low smoke is it really ?

Yes but it’s not 100% smoke free just reduced smoke

do you have a bonfire ?
@G4CEFITNESS9 ай бұрын
@maskuiworld1892 Unfortunately, I do not. I built my own fire pit before I was preve to them. I would love yo own one though. I've seen other reviews and they seem great.

Tom, how well does the solo stove radiate heat?
@TomVoyageuk9 ай бұрын
Quite well but it is limited to close by the stove especially with the ring around the top installed. I’ve heard of people removing this to allow for more heat but this then compromises the smokeless technology. The best bet is to use the optional heat deflector, I’ve heard it’s good for spreading the heat but have yet to try it out!
@maskuiworld18929 ай бұрын
do you have the bonfire 2.0?
@TomVoyageuk9 ай бұрын
No this is the first version, the 2.0 has a removable ash pan which would be very helpful!

I have to gripe that they are using polystyrene in the packaging- plenty of places are using moulded cardboard now rather than non biodegradable landfill filler.
@TomVoyageuk11 ай бұрын
It’s an important sub just you raise here and one I should have mentioned because I too like it when a company uses biodegradable or recyclable packaging, thanks for pointing this out

You don't smell like a fire when you go inside for the night
@TomVoyageuk2 ай бұрын
Sometimes there is a bit of smoke when you first light, but if you keep out the way, it's fine. definitely better than an open fire pit. My wife hates smoke smell of a fire pit, but she will happily sit with this one once it's up and running and smokeless. I find using pellets helps to reduce the smoke even more, if you get the pellet adapter
