Tom, As soon as we got 5+mph wind the deflector was basically useless, so could only measure heat increase in the direction the wind blew, so minimal/no heating on at least 270 degrees of the fire deflector. Good for maybe one person if you don't mind flame/smoke in your direction and not spread out. Don't mind if you post or not, but would love you to address wind issue.

It’s not really something I came across as I don’t get much wind in the garden where I live. I guess that’s just one of the big bears of any outdoor heating device, apart from infrared heaters of course

have one of the table top solos. have you thought of trying to cook with a pan on top with the deflector in place?? or even grill??? as with out a deflector you burn food really fast.

I can't find any info or reviews on using this with the pellet insert. I'd love to know if this is safe to use with that, as it seems like the pellets put off a much larger flame. Any chance you could try and/or review that combo?

Unfortunately I don’t have the pellet insert at the minute for the bonfire stoves

@@TomVoyageukI have the pellet insert, and I have filled the stove to about one inch below the holes. The flame gets a bit high, but the deflector does its job and diffuses the flame.

Once there's that much soot, the bag is carry case is useless. I have the Mesa XL and deflector and got super dirty just trying to store it. What's the best way to clean so that it can be stored? Thanks!

I just brushed the soot off with a dry plastic bristle brush once it was cool and it worked very well
