LSHT: Lone Star Hiking Trail, in Texas, it is our National Recreation Trail, Sam Houston’s National Forest. March is perfect time of the year. I solo Thru-backpack 96.6 complete trail. An amazing forest walk, some mud, nine days, couple of Nero, one on trail. A rainy morning and river wading add to the fun. I took 10 days of food in a bear canister as I will need to do this on my summer next trip, training.

Great info! Thank you for documenting. I like your style! 😊 I’m looking to start my thru hike of this in a few weeks. Hopefully, it’ll dry up by then. Anyway, your video gave me the encouragement I needed. And I just saw that you’ve done this trail twice. If you’re up for a third time, you’re welcome to join me. Lol. Thank you again!

Great job! All that mud reminded me why I was one and done on the LSHT. I spent one night out there after walking through ankle deep water and mud all day. Then I was done. You're way tougher than I am. You rocked it. Good luck with the rest of your JMT prep.

Thanks Cameron! Good to see you stopped by. That sounds like a much tougher time, I had on/off mud walks, otherwise it’s hard to make miles it slows us down a lot. Hugs !

Download Maprika ski Mobil app, download all 11 LSHT including the detour if needed. Go to website llone star hiking trail and can buy maps or download. Finally the guidebook, rip out appendix D and take with you. I just used the appendix and iPhone gps navigation maprika on air plane mode. Good luck.

@@lizstrailsandtravels4624 Was concerned about the closed bridges. Stubblefield as well. What did you do in those sections? Did you have to bushwack?
@lizstrailsandtravels4624
@lizstrailsandtravels4624 2 жыл бұрын
@@itshotinhouston I did the whole trail, waded the river san jacinto east fork mm71 no bushwhacking detour needed for me. All else is open, bridge is up and camping is open at stubblefield. No hunting season, camp anyplace - watch prescribed forest burns. Enjoy

Is this a loop around? Will I be able to get back to my car after the hike?
@lizstrailsandtravels4624
@lizstrailsandtravels4624 2 жыл бұрын
No it’s not, you have to arrange for a ride back to your car or have more than one car. Charlotte at lone star hiking trail Facebook group does car shuttles, there are many roads in the area and can reach all major trailhead by car. Also see lonestartrail.org
