Wow. I moved here from Tasmania, and I have been homesick for most of the time I have been here BUT this vid has started to change my mind somewhat! I love history so I am so keen to see Ellensbrook and find out the history. The Jarrah trees are tremendous!! So I am so keen to go and explore! I lived in WA many years ago, and loved it then, but 20 odd years in Tassie where the temp is sooooooo much cooler than here and the views around every bend are breathtaking I was kinda spoilt. But I was in awe watching this, thankyou so much!! Really enjoyed and appreciate this vid, thanks so much for sharing.

WA is pretty amazing as there are so many different types of scnery. Yes, they are often hundreds or even thousands of miles apart but the sheer variety here makes it an amazing place to live. We are yet to see Tassie but hope to make it there one day.

@@westralianoffroad Oh I live here now... sorry for the confusion.. I lived and worked here in the 80's, and moved back last year to be near my family and so I am here to stay. I have lived all over this wonderful land but Tassie grabbed my heart there for a while. But for a number of other reasons including a bit of homesickness for Tassie I have not really explored WA, but your vids are absolutely inspiring and I am keen to get going - once it cool downs, 20 years in Tassie means I am no where near climatized to this heat, but it will happen. So biggest thankyou for showing the history and reminding me of the beauty of Western Australia!!

I lived in WA North of the river back in the 70's and worked as a sales rep for SABCO. Traveled from Carnarvon to Albany on a regular schedule. I loved the South West and nearly bought a property in Albany - that's where I loved.

Obviously, being a bit of a history buff myself, I love it when others include some local history as well as the camping and 4x4 stuff. We try to make it down that way at least once a year but this year (trip vids still to come for the 2022 trip), for some reason, I just didn't feel the buzz I usually get when I am down there.

It’s a gross injustice to not talk about and appreciate the history. I’ve always loved to learn it.

Great video mate. Absolutely love the old buildings and the history as well as that last track to the beach. We have a couple similar around here but you are not allowed to drive them as Nat Parks have closed them thanks to people ripping them up and dumping rubbish. Shame as there are some beautiful areas. Anyway mate loved the video.

Stopped going down there once the developers turned it into a circus...have been spending nearly all my time in the deserts or just about anywhere else...might give it another chance...great video...maybe this should be on the "big" screens in the UK instead of the flying whaleshark.

Yeah it has lost its feel over the years that’s true. Can still find those spots though.
@issy74652 жыл бұрын
Depends on where you go. Down Augusta way seems to have escaped most of the development. Yes it does have a couple of artsy shops, but they are mild and most of the stuff they sell is made locally, compared to Margaret River. Hamelin Bay and Gracetown are still good, just expensive. Dunsborough, Cow Town, Margaret River and Yallingup are ruined, which is sad.

Great content man. Really enjoyed this one. The whole reason I live in the southwest is so I can see these places 👌 The history of the bustle family is certainly interesting! Although they did open and develop most of the southwest they have some skeletons in their closet. I've spoken to the local elders and they showed me manuscripts of notes from indigenous people that lived in Busselton during that time. lots of murders and blood covered family history. Back in the early 90s one of my colleagues actually found the remains of a 16-year-old indigenous girl that had reportedly been raped and then beheaded a couple of km away from my house. Very sad history.
@westralianoffroad2 жыл бұрын
Yeah mate correct. There are some horrific events surrounding the name. Like everywhere. A lot of cherry picked story’s too I’ve found. I focused on what was relevant to the homestead and it’s history. For its most part, both the Wadandi and the settlers were harmonious in enjoying the area of Ellensbrook.
