These intro narrations are great. You're a poet, dude. Liked the coloration of the intro too. Really brought out the reflections in the water on the trail (0:10). 14 hours of driving a heavy truck on 35" MT's getting 12-15mpg(?). That gas bill... Now we know why you eat ramen. Thanks for putting in the effort for these videos. I won't follow all your footsteps, but I'll use your videos to follow some.

Thanks so much for all the kind words. It’s people like you that really motivate me to keep filming. I do enjoy making these videos and glad you liked the color on the intro. I couldn’t agree more with you about camping and exploring in the winter. Nobody is out and it’s just so special. You should check out a -30 or even -40 degree sleeping bag, it’s a game changer in the cold. You won’t even need the heater. Your Chanel is a huge inspiration to me. Check out the 4 peaks video I just made. Most of my ideas were from your channel

looks like a fun trip ! Have to invest in proper winter clothing though. Cotton and Denim have no place in the outdoors. Diesel heaters only make up for poor choice in layers outdoor clothing. Get some good merino wool base layers and synthetic or down outer layers and a good shell jacket as well as some good insulated and waterproof boots and you'll never get cold again and you can ditch the diesel heater all together. 🙏

Suggestion? I'd ditch the jeans for a pair of Duluth Trading Fire Hose pant. Especially for winter camping. They also make a pair that is lined with fleece-ultra warm. I found that jeans were ok for winter camping in Death Valley until I tried the FireHose pant. Its really dense material is super warm even in cold wind. After moving to Idaho, I learned jeans work indoors or between May and September. The first time I ran the dogs outside of town, the wind just cut through my jeans. I thought I was gonna die! Lol! Im jealous-I never made it up to Leavitt before I left. Looks like an awesome trip!

I’m going to check those out. I do need to get something waterproof for the snow. I do wear thermals underneath my jeans. Was an awesome trip Idaho looks awesome also.👊🏻

With how much winter driving you do have you considered a 3 peak AT tire? Would give you more traction in the snow and ice. Quieter on the road, better mpgs etc. Sure during the dry seasons the ATs would get you through most everything just fine.
@jonnytacooutdoors8 ай бұрын
I’ll have to look into it. Our winters are short here in California. We do mostly have dry seasons. These mud terrains do great on dry and rocky trails.

Did you adjust the air fuel ratio on the diesel heater for the high elevation of (9200')? The heater is probably full of soot and needs to be cleaned out.

@brettlynch27078 ай бұрын
Are your camper batteries lithium? If so they need to be in an insulated compartment otherwise they will malfunction in the cold quite often, anything under freezing. Cold and Li are not friends. I also recommend a 0 degree bag and simple electric blanket, I've used this combo for years in winter with no issues
@jonnytacooutdoors8 ай бұрын
They’re supposed to be self heating also😎 thanks for the recommendation! Thanks for watching.

As always great video, epic spot to camp.. it sucks that your diesel heater failed.. do you think it was the elevation? I’m in the market for a diesel heater but I have seen too many people having issues with them.. Thanks for sharing
@jonnytacooutdoors8 ай бұрын
The issue was with my batteries not the diesel heater. I have a website now go check it out. Thanks so much for coming back to watch another video. You are greatly appreciated.

Enjoyed this Johnny. I'm itching to get out there soon. On the deisel heater. Did you adjust it for your altitude? It depends on what controller you have on yours, but you make the adjustment via that. Love mine. Thanks 👍🎂
@jonnytacooutdoors8 ай бұрын
About the altitude adjustment I need to look into that. I haven’t had any issues as of late. I’m assuming it was just the cold and my lithium batteries didn’t like the cold. Thanks so much for watching.
@zaneturner84238 ай бұрын
I just want to say your videos are getting better and better. So what's up with that diesel heater not working in the real cold weather? Can it be the lithium batteries powering it? I hear they don't do well in extreme cold, don't really know if that's true....Let us know, as I'm very curious.
@jonnytacooutdoors8 ай бұрын
Thanks so much I really appreciate that. I love putting these videos together …Yeah totally the cold weather. The diesel heater has been working fine as of recently and so have the lithium batteries. 😎
