@@jennagartland5838 my experience has been mostly positive. In my area people tend to follow the rules, but of course you’ve got idiots everywhere. I feel that when schools shut down, things feel calmer. Like I said in the initial comment, I moved from London, so my former experience is that of a very busy city - Edinburgh feels much, much easier to live with Covid than London would!

I have relocated from Manchester to Edinburgh in December 2019 and it was the best decision I ever made. It might be more expensive, but if you will get a job which will pay you that difference in expenses, you will see you will be fine. I live in the very city centre and it's the best place i ever lived in the UK. I walk everywhere and it takes me 30 minutes to walk to almost all city centre spots and beyond to nature places like Holyrood Park or Blackford Hill. And it's true - Edinburgh is beyond spectacular in Autumn.

Edinburgh is not one of the most expensive places to live in the UK. The balance between salary and life expenses is said to be the most balanced in Edinburgh actually compared to the rest of the UK.
@3ve873
@3ve873 5 ай бұрын
That's actually not true... If you look at the stats around rental costs etc, Edinburgh is ranked among some of the most expensive places (top 10-20 : no one is saying it is the most expensive or even in the top 5, because it's much cheaper than eg London, Cambridge, Brighton etc - but remember lots of people living in these commute to London with London sized salaries). Also, it depends for whom we are talking about; for students it's very expensive, as well as for tourists during the peak periods when they all flock to the city. Then it depends whether you're talking about rent or property affordability / groceries and bills. There is an echelon of society in Edinburgh who are paid well and the quality of life is fantastic, but a lot of people who spend the majority of their income on rent or live outside the city.

@@charlieackles8254 There is nowhere to live. Edinburgh is such a tightly packed city, very small footprint for the amount of people who live there. Most people from Edinburgh can't actually afford to live in Edinburgh. 11:44: "During the Fringe, lot of people who are like me, get very angry" - exactly, Katarina! I hate all the extra noise pollution and the crowds that the Fringe is bringing to Edinburgh. They keep saying the city is benefiting hugely from the Fringe... Yes, the businesses (especially the hospitality industry) are benefiting, but not the ordinary residents. And btw: if the city is REALLY hugely benefiting from the Fringe - it would be nice for Edinbugh residents, for example, not to pay any Council Tax in August. To have the Festival month tax-free. Then every Edinburgh resident would feel the benefit and appreciate the Festival more.

It literally like football… I was born bred in Glasgow have lived up north where my dad was from… I’m close to a football stadium none famous and crowd of people bar folk triples our streets are filled with strangers cars n middle of the night even 3am ppl talking loud drunk back to cars. Luckily for us area i]has out a stop to cars filling streets here during football days. I rem when I was younger I was training Jon near a famous stadium we got out late at night I had only my subway ticket return no money n lived miles away n I was refused to enter the subway by police so fans can use it. I had to walk home at 11pm at night through doggy streets roads for hours. After a long exhausting day work. I hate football. Ppl n it’s citizens should be priority esp when we young women without much money in a bad area at late hours of night trying to get home exhausted after work. Public transport should only be for citizens not fans they should get a city bus for fans to drop them home. I rem when I visited Edinburgh with my family in the 90s it wasn’t busy place but now it is full to the brim with tourist. If they all come for Harry Potter then that makes it worse.

@@VASIGTravelingLifeinLondon You're talking some pish there, it's not cheaper than London at all, it is far more expensive for a tourist foreigner, the only place it's not as expensive for is Scots from the rest of Scotland.

@@AJ-PFbat Yes, it is not expensive, I live here. There are a lot of free things. All the meals in all the schools, all sanitary products for women, activities for children (my son goes to a weekly activity playing in the wood, he receives free water clothes), workers from the council that plays with children in the public parks and there is always a free meal and hot chocolate, the university, the bus is free for all children till 21 one years and the old people, you travel free too if you a looking for a job. The l life is pretty easier here. And the education is a Finish system in public schools, they went to the woods, all day playing, there are free swimming courses.

My favorite city in the world to spend summers. Haven’t gone since COVID came along, so eager to get back soon. People are friendly, it’s safe, and filled with conveniences. Not my favorite place when the festivals are on bc it’s harder to get around. So, for long-term living, I would choose to live just outside of the city.

What's the rent like in Edinburgh?
@Jrhynie
@Jrhynie 3 жыл бұрын
@@Nashlash Really steep to be honest. I stay in a small one bedroom flat and that's £650 a month rent. Across the Forth Road Bridge I had a three bedroom flat with private parking and garden for £550. Love Edinburgh but you need deep pockets.

Just come back from visiting Edinburgh. Went to see where our late dad came from. It's a beautiful city. Went to portobello beach and the sun was out. Which was great as the day before at the castle, it threw it down. Looks like the same hotel we stayed in. The cairn Hotel. Can't wait to go back another time

I was born and raised in Edinburgh and still live here in the Old Town. I like your story about the Taxi driver returning your phone. We like to make a fuss of people coming here and help them settle here. We are a city and a country of immigrants. People from all over the world are part of Scotland's story and of course our intention is to set a good example to our neighbours in the South :-) I hope you will try living here and experience the different 'parts' of the City. Remember that just a 30 minute bus journey will take you out of the city into rural countryside, which is beautiful for walks, castles, beaches and hills. Smashin'!

I think Edinborough is only about miles from Dalhousie castle. My first kin was from Scottland before they came to America. I was Scottish before we moved here. The Ramsey Clan helped fight the English and were with William Wallace. That's on the history rerecords. So yeah. I was Scottish before an American Ramsey. And I'm proud of it. I watch the parades of the clans. I love one of the Scottish songs. One of my kin goes back to SimondeRamsey who is accepted as the first Ramsey in Scottland. historians accept that the Ramsey Clan spread from him. he's accepted the father of the Ramsey Clan.
