It's the small things that are usually most important to tone rather than hitting a maxed out drive pedal. I really love what it's doing here and I think I would leave it "always on"

Excellent demo!!! It’s almost like if you recorded a guitar track without it… it’s that sweet sauce that makes it more “world class” sounding. Like if you turned it off is when you’d notice it most… in a full mix.

So good man! After chatting the other day I found one of the old Solodallas Shaffer replica so I ordered it ha. Your channel content and tone are always 🔥🔥🔥

I’ve used the Storm since 2019. I use it as an “always on” sauce pedal. I typically run the gain at about 10-11 o’clock just to goose the front end and boost to taste. Limiter I leave on 0 because it seems to be bigger and more open that way.
@KenyonReed211 ай бұрын
Sounds like an awesome way to use it. I love the idea of it as an always on since it adds such tasteful and subtle qualities when dialed well.

Fantastic tone. Looks like the storm does the same thing like the Tonepress?
@KenyonReed2 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah not quite the exact same, but it seems like when paired with a general compression tone, it can bring out really inspiring, snappy sounds like my most compressed setting on the Tone Press, but better!

Your tones sound great but for the purpose of the demo I think you could back the compressor way off, just a thought. Also is the storm before or after the compressor?
@KenyonReed2 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The storm is after the compressor! While I’ll consider that for things down the line, it would defeat the purpose for me to alter the tone I think sounds good to demo a pedal. Ultimately it would sound like anyone else who just plugs straight in to a pedal to demo it. For me this context makes it the most helpful and applicable for the style of music I play!
@josemena9699 Жыл бұрын
So nice! What power supply do you use? I just got the Storm pedal but it makes a lot of constant noise, the more boost it has, the more noise it makes, so it is useless right now.
@KenyonReed211 ай бұрын
I'm using strymon power. A combination of a Zuma and few Ojai's. It's definitely an important piece to have good power so your pedals pick up as little noise/interference as possible.

What do you like better? The Solo Dallas into the Daily Driver? Or the newer Daily Driver Boost combo pedal?
@KenyonReed27 ай бұрын
Hard to say! I haven’t messed with the new daily and boost combo. But I definitely am a fan of the daily with the storm.
@lukekalawsky47767 ай бұрын
Hi Kenyon, I just heard there's an INTERNAL TRIMMER on the Storm?! Lol, that is not mentioned in any manual. Where is it in the pedal? I just opened mine up and can't find it.
@KenyonReed26 ай бұрын
Yes there is! I didn’t know that at the time of making this video. So it is set stock at half way in this video. I have since maxed it out and love the way it sounds. It’s a huge sound. I made a post about it in my subscribed content on Instagram, you can find a detailed answer there. But it’s a small little thing you can turn that looks like it can take some kind of tiny screwdriver.

Is this just a reissue of the old Storm pedal?
@KenyonReed25 күн бұрын
From what I remember, it is a modern recreation of the vintage Schaffer Vega tower that AC/DC was famous for using
@XiaNingTian6 ай бұрын
I've had this for the last 3 years now and I largely use it as a boost. Whether before my dirt pedals, between or at the end. Now that I better understand what the limiter does from your video, what's your recommendation for placement pedal placement? Before or after drvies?
@KenyonReed26 ай бұрын
I’m glad the video helped! And that’s a tough thing to recommend placement because I will constantly put it in different positions based on what I want to accomplish. Right now, as opposed to the video, I have it before all my drives and I’m setting it as a clean preamp subtle lift to the tone and it sounds amazing. There’s literally so many different ways to use it. So you’ll just have to make a decision on what you want/need this pedal to be for you.

Good morning, storm vs optical compressor like PRS Mary Cries?
@KenyonReed2 Жыл бұрын
I would say the storm is different than an optical compressor. The storm having a limiter definitely gives it some of that compressor experience in some ways, but I personally wouldn’t use the storm in place of a compressor, although it can get you close if that’s all you have
@newstonebridge8698 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your answer. What would you think, for a punchy, open, articulate rhythm sound, the storm or the Xotic Super Clean booster? Always on
@KenyonReed2 Жыл бұрын
The Xotic Super Clean is really cool as a general boost, but I think I would lean more towards the Storm for some interesting, punchy rhythm tone so it adds a nice, subtle grit texture and top end articulation.

Hey Kenyon, is that an EB-10 that i see on your board? How are you using that in your setup & why?
@KenyonReed211 ай бұрын
Yes it is! I have a pedal board rundown video inbound soon and will show examples. I primarily use it as a treble boost when needed, mainly for my humbucker baritone to lift its clarity, but sometimes as a sublt treble boost for my normal guitars to lift a cleaner picking part.

Do you usually run output 2 on the Multi buffer or do you swap between 1 and 2?
@KenyonReed2 Жыл бұрын
You know, it kind of varies. Often times using my own equipment, I like the chime it adds and a necessary top end. But when playing live and using different equipment I often like the feel of output 1.
