Saw a fair few reviews of the sika 100 saying it wasn't great, I don't like the way the blade goes into handle and the handle part way goes behind the blade, hear it's pretty prone to snapping too. The Sika 90 was my first bushcraft/survival knife, steel is soft however that makes it very forgiving- rolls rather then chips and I think you can trust it for heavy duty stuff as I guess it absorbs shock better then a harder steel at similar price would. Got the 130 and can baton all day with it.

To be honest I haven't used the Sika 90 much as I do generally prefer a scandi grind. The Sika 100 I have used a lot more and the sheath that I thought would lose it's retention or break hasn't done either. The one thing that does worry me is there seems to be some flex in the handle, I can imagine the tang snapping. Thank you for the information on these KNIVES, and thanks for watching.

Nice looking fixed blades and they look like they can do the job! Looks like you have a small camping type area there.

Small camping area for a small person, he is 3 years old. Was helping a Freind renovate his home and put up a Sami Lavvu style shelter for his son to play in. Probably will do a video on making a full size one at some point.

Hello, could you please review the Sika 130 (Wooden grip)?
@KuukkeliBushcraft
@KuukkeliBushcraft 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe at some point in time but I don't think these are still available in the UK or Finland (where I am right now) and at the moment I am testing out a few other knives. I belive Jay's Booshcraft reviewed this a while ago. His reviews are generally pretty good and accurate. Thanks for watching this review. All the best Tim

Can the sika 90 spine generate spark with fire steel or fire starter?
@KuukkeliBushcraft
@KuukkeliBushcraft 3 жыл бұрын
Yes but not very well. The spine could be filed down a little and it would work much better. You really don't get many sparks as it is. Thank you for watching my friend.

Sorry Tim, but the bird that is singing its head off in the background is the actual star of this video not you or the knife. Nothing personal but I have a bit of a hearing impediment so it's nice to hear a bird. I usually have to be right on top of them to hear them---and they don't like it when I do that.

Which one do you think is better?

I prefer the 100 grip. I generally prefer a Scandinavian gring over a hollow.

What do you think would be better sika 100 or sika 90 like for bushcrafting
@KuukkeliBushcraft
@KuukkeliBushcraft 4 жыл бұрын
I would say if you are going to be using it for hard use (in particular a lot of battening) that the full tang sika 90 and 130 would be the better option. On the other hand if you are likely to be doing finer work the Sika 100 with the Scandinavian grind would be a better option. A lot of it would depend on what you do and what other tools you carry (axe ect). Basically the Scandinavian grind will cut wood better but the full tang will take a lot more hard use. I hope this was helpful and thank you very much for watching.

SIKA 100 GRIP FIXED BLADE KNIFE Do you think this is as same as mora companion mg ? Did you use it for cutting branches
@KuukkeliBushcraft
@KuukkeliBushcraft 5 жыл бұрын
Two very similar knives, it's great at cutting small branches, and will do all the companion does with the added advantage of already having a 90 degree spine for scraping. On the down side I do feel a bit of flex in the handle when I am working it hard. I belive the stiffer plastic in the Mora knives probably protects the tang from breaking to a certain degree.

I am planning on doing another review of this knife sometime soon. Now that I have used it a lot more (and the sheath is surviving a lot better than I expected).

i bought the one with an orange strap from Decathlon and i specifically searched out for a review to tell people not to buy it. horrible edge, took it on a bikepacking tour through europe, all i did is cut some fruit, vegetables, some branches, rope. i cannot believe the edge of the blade is all chipped, has many tiny tents. Total trash.
