Easy..I'd say in part it's kind of an Eastern vs. Western style thing. Where a Western traveloguer would likely babble the entire video, the Eastern ones I've seen (including Solo Travel Japan, Kuga's Travels, Dancing Bacon, and others) just stick with the natural sounds of the trip. Of course, that doesn't prevent the travel company from providing their *own* theme music.. :-)

Every week, I travel with a friend whose voice I've never heard, whose face I've never seen, to places I've never been. How fascinating it is, to feel such kinship with someone I know only through camera work and captions. And yet, you are the very best travel friend with whom I could have hoped to see Japan. Thank you for taking me on so many wonderful trips through your country. It's such a pleasure to be able to see Japan with you...even though I hardly know you. I know your manner, your gait, your kindness, your sense of humor...and these are wonderful things. What an amazing world we live in. When I was a young child, the idea of computers in our home was inconceivable. Now, I travel Japan, from my armchair, with someone whose presence in my life feels like a friendship. I would notice, if you stopped sharing videos. I would miss you, and miss "our time" traveling, even though you did all the traveling, and I simply "joined" from my laptop. You are doing something amazing, and something awesome, here. Thank you so much for traveling with all of us.

I confess, I was a little disappointed not to hear the Sunflower theme song when you boarded - but I hummed the tune to myself. I agree with the comments of others that the ship was very attractive and the room and its amenities looked very comfortable. No way a US cruise ship would have a bathtub in a single room. (Most don't even offer single rooms.) The food looked good too.

As soon as I saw it was a Ferry Sunflower episode the theme song popped into my head, so no, it was not only you!! And we even got to hear it again when dissembarking. I wonder how a buckweath husks pillows feel like, I don't think they are very common outside Japan. At least I've never seen one before! The comforter looked very nice, I'm sure it was very cozy at night. The food looked great once again, now I'm craving some miso soup. As always, I'm looking forward to a new episode!

Here in the US, they were made available over 20 years ago. They're under the brand Sobakawa. I have two of them and I LOVE mine! I have to take mine with if I go anywhere because I can't use regular pillows anymore. Sobakawa also makes a non-buckwheat husk version, but I haven't tried that. I love my buckwheat husk ones too much! You can get them on Amazon. While they claim a natural cooling ability, that's never worked for me. They get just as hot as a regular pillow. If I get hot, I just flip to the other side.

Omg ! You thought the same thing xD

Buckwheat hull pillows are great! They can be heavy, though, so hard to pack for a trip. The nice thing is after you've used one for a while, you can freshen it up by leaving it out in the sun for a few hours, and it will come back fluffy and fresh. And they conform to your head and neck shape for greater comfort. I use a buckwheat pillow along with one filled with little macaroni-like tubes that are similarly comfortable (though not as environmentally friendly...). I can no longer sleep on a standard down- or polyester-filled pillow--they're too soft and I feel like I'm suffocating.

I love that this KZbin channel gets it. When I want to watch videos of things I normally never see/experience in another country, it's always some person who goes "HEY WHATS UP KZbin, TODAY I"M GOING TO TAKE A SOLO BOAT TRIP IN JAPAN" and it takes away from the experience because they feel the need to talk throughout the whole thing. Here I can just take in the experience of the sights and sounds and not be distracted by someone talking all the time. Thank you for making these.

I wish that in NE US we had ferries of this caliber at that price! The accommodations look very comfortable and there is enough to do on the ship that would interest me. And the food! The buffets offer a good variety at a very reasonable cost. This type of low-key sea travel would be more enjoyable for me than the frantic glamour of a cruise ship.
@PeachWookiee2 жыл бұрын
I’d love it if we had ferries like this in Washington state! Honestly, if we had ferries from Seattle to Portland, it’d be wonderful!
@Bobrogers992 жыл бұрын
@Justin fenningsdorf Years ago I took several European river cruises, back when they were informal and affordable. Now they try to mimic the big cruise ships and they're horrendously expensive. These ferry trips are more like the river cruises used to be, comfortable, informal and easy on the budget. The buffet food looks quite good!
@Trebuchet482 жыл бұрын
@@PeachWookiee Me too! But where would they go? Bear in mind that these ferries depend almost entirely on trucks for revenue. Trucking companies can put a truck and driver on an overnight ferry and it's still moving while he sleeps; or just the trailer and have another driver pick it up in the morning. Alaska, on the other hand, takes two or three days and would be too far for that to work.
@Trebuchet482 жыл бұрын
@Justin fenningsdorf There are several you can do. In 2003 we took the Queen of the West from Portland up the Columbia and Snake rivers and back. It was an awesome trip!
@SeaBear0072 жыл бұрын
@@PeachWookiee Yes! Me too. Our ferries here in Washington, have zero comfort or glamor. It would be awesome if we had some big ferries like that, that traveled to Portland Oregon, then down to San Diego California. We are so behind times when it comes to Train & ferry travel.
