Truly, a fascinating story was told. Between the thought and heart put into the cuisine, the joyful, warm villagers, and the pristine landscape...is like a book of poetry. I hope these things will remain preserved in the Japanese culture. Thank you so very much for sharing this experience. Forget all of Japan's city experiences. Give me times like these. You are a joy.

In the beginning of the journey I was looking at the infrastructure. The train tracks, the power lines , the bridges, the trestle. It all looked original. I felt like I was looking into the past and it was so reassuring. I don't have any other way to express that. I feel like this is the best one of your videos. It's a place I would never want to leave.

10:00 this reminds me of the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire. Nearby, there's a similar tourist train that runs from Conway through a similar valley. It's fascinating to me that the landscape in Japan is so similar down to the mountains and trees. The pine trees even look the same. Kind of crazy how you can find similar plant life and landscapes on polar opposite sides of the planet.

See the kids running to try to keep up with the train as it departs - sweet. Having taken the Silver Fern luxury train from Auckland to Wellington in NZ a few years ago, a local Auckland kid popped over the fence as we departed to give us all the finger. It's the little things that tell you about the quality of people of a country. lol

Amazingly beautiful inside and out. I traveled thousands of KM in Japan and never saw such a nice looking train. Somehow you always seem to take trips on trains and ferries and buses that are almost empty. So much of Japanese transportation seems to be designed for peak holiday crowds but it is then run at that same level of service all year round.

I am thinking of visiting Shikoku on my next trip . it's very hard to decide where to go, cause i want to visit so many places in Japan. These houses on the steep hills makes me think of eartquakes and landslides, not so much about shopping. Fantastic views on this train ride, i can never get tired of these views !

Thanks for sharing. If I return one day to Shikoku, I would like to take this train (even if I was already on the same tracks on normal trains). I was lucky to get a place on the old version of Iyonada Monogatari, which has an interior even more nice, I think. And the view of Seto sea was wonderful. Not that Yoshino river isn't great, an neither Sanuki Fuji (did you miss it? If I remember correctly, it should have been just after Kotohira). Anyway, these Shikoku tourist trains are surely the best quality/price in Japan, I have seen many others more expansive on TV, but it didn't seem as nice as these.

Take care, stay safe.

The quality of the ASMR in this video is delightfully soothing. I relish ALL of the sounds! So far, this video is my favorite. I tend to watch your videos right before I go to bed. I eat a little snack and pretend it's the contents of the bento box. Whilst you ate your apple tart, I ate an almond and red bean cookie for "dessert".🍱
