We hiked in the Santa Monica Mountains to Solstice Canyon, where we explored the ruins of two historic homes and the waterfalls at the end of the trail.
The first ruin was the Keller House, a stone and tin roof home built by Henry Keller in 1903. The original wooden structure had been built in 1901, but it was destroyed by a fire. The Keller House is a simple, one-story building with a few rooms. It is located on a bluff overlooking the canyon.
The second ruin is the Roberts House, which was built in the 1950s. It was designed by the famous African American architect Paul Williams. The house was once a grand structure with multiple fireplaces and a swimming pool. However, it was destroyed by a fire in 1982. The ruins of the Roberts House are located near the waterfall at the end of the trail.
We enjoyed exploring the ruins of these two historic homes. They were a reminder of the past and the people who once lived in this canyon. We also enjoyed the beauty of the canyon, with its waterfalls, streams, and lush vegetation.
