If the whole tree is infected, can it still be treated and fight off the disease and live?

Depending on how big the tree is you can transplant and spray fungicide spray on the roots. That is the only way to try to get rid of it altogether. That said some trees like the house dogwood can live with the fungus for decades once you've treated the tree with spray in the early spring.

@@zacharylewis7702 Do you continually treat it each spring before bud break?

Interesting. I have noticed that even though there is contact with other trees, the anthracnose on my mango tree hasn't spread. Most of the leaves on the ground near it are spotted as well. Not to mention, the ground around it looks barren. It's also spreading onto some of the branches. Been pruning for the last few days though higher portions of the tree are too high to reach. Will continue raking. We have our lawn mown and when they come to cut the grass, they use the leaf blower to blow everything into the corner of the yard, some of which is difficult to access.
