I love Mental Ray, but Vray shines here because you can just "shift" a negative value to bring the displacement back to the origin while maintaining the depth of the displacement.

Man thank you so much for that comment! I have struggled for quite a while with this displacement corner issue. But now I just input a negative value in the "Shift" box and the problem is fixed! Works even on 2D mapping! Thanks!!!

Thanx for tut, doesnt work for me though. I have walls of a spa which are irregular in lenghts and i seem to have problems in how to divide the corner edges. I tried with a box and it worked but cant make it work same way on irregular shape.

Why the hassle? Check Keep continuity in VrayDispMod. Ad put some low value like 0,001. Creating extra geo is a weird way to solve the issue.

Hi. I uploaded this video for long time ago, when we did not have this option in VRay renderer.

Exactly the same problem here. Is there a fix meanwhile?

But when you just use Diplacement as a map in material, there is no other fix.

Isnit it the same as use a smooth?

Yes (But I have not tested it yet) . In new versions of Vray you can check "keep Continuity" in displacement modifier.
