Thanks for the refresher course. I'm 25 and knew I was in big trouble when I forgot how to subtract on paper and how to borrow properly and not rely on my calculator for once. After that I did a refresher on short division and then I remembered how much I loved finding the letters in algebra. 2 minutes helped bring it all back. I wish I had you as my teacher in 9th grade when we learned alegbra. I came 3 months late and it took me forever to make up and finish a huge stack of worksheets. I alwaya struggled with math so coming in late did not help. I went before school, during class, intermediate class (since I hadn't made a good enough grade for the year befores test) and 2 times a week after school tutoring. Later I was able to to learn and love it and also learn trigonometry which was even more fun. It's amazing, once you have the right teacher who can help you through it how much it makes a subject enjoyable. Trust me, I failed 4th grade math and was forced to go to summer school yet I made 100's everyday, the teacher said it was definitely the teachers fault I failed. (She hated me for who knows why)

i am 50 now and i have used math in a very long time but i was at a seminar and the teacher inverted and multiplied to get an answer for x. then showed the percentage that it was off. now that led me here. thank you for being a very accurate and clear teacher. math is obviously something we need to us alot but rather than using it we learn how to get around using it. i just do 1 class a day now and its getting better. thanks again. you are a great teacher.

Depends what you are doing. If you are given the value for the variables, you would substitute and simplify. If not, you would leave the term as it is. A term like that is already in simplest form. 24xy^7
