I don't find too many players using this concept where I play. I find it most useful when my team is serving and getting ready to hit the third. A lot of returns are hit to the middle and both serving side players are back together near the baseline. Employing RTX helps eliminate confusion because it's almost always easy to see if the ball is crossing that center line. However, if I'm on the receiving side, my partner is on the move getting to the kitchen and I'm at the net, if I have an opportunity to poach a ball that is crossing the middle to my partner, my position is better, and the fact that I'm not running into the ball means I am in the best position to take that ball and potentially be offensive with it.

100%. There are times to Break the X and you describe one of them here. It is the correct approach and does not violate RTX. We cover that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHi6iYBsnth2iqssi=JAy8poUHnkIXszh6 Appreciate the comment.

I use the Respect the X But, most of my doubles partners do not respect the X and default to forehand in the middle strategy. It is somewhat frustrating because often I would move to take a return that is up the middle towards my backhand on the X axis but my partner will crowd in to take it with his forehand putting himself out of position for the next ball. If I am able to take that return I intend to drop it back cross court in front of my partner who I expected to have moved forward and be ready to be aggressive.

Happens all the time and freezes out the backhand player. Crazy if you ask me.

Your intro to respect the X is not too long. You are just setting up the video for viewers who may not know this. I've followed your channel for a long time, and if you look at the big picture, this video is about 7 minutes long. IMO, perfect length. Respect the Tony... Not a lot of players dive deep into this concept. For me, it's changed my game and has led to more winning points. It can look like you're trying to tell your partners how to play, but if you take the time to talk with your partner about why it's essential to use X, most are receptive. We all break the X at times, I try to stay positive with my partners, and we talk about when it's okay to break it. Many errors occur when the player does not respect the X and reaches into the X area without moving their feet. I applaud a player who moves their feet instead of reaching and breaks the X successfully.

I respect the x but still have random partners who still think forehand in the middle. 🤦‍♀️

Not just random LC. It is pervasive. You should read the comments to these videos - players will defend FHM til their last breath :)
