SOLVED: Connecting Windows 10 to Netgear ReadyNAS (SMB Protocol)

Yeah, I did the same. Add / Remove Features. Also installed Firefox version 56 to access the NAS via web and it works.

I had the same problem as you so were you looking at windows features box at 6:11 min I checked that box and it worked thanks, I did not how to get around this problem. I was going down the youtube rabbit hole and I found your video and it fixed the problem thanks again

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You I'd given up on my old Netgear ReadyNas Duo v2 until I stumbled upon your Video. I used the Control Panel - Windows Features route and ticked the SMB 1.0/...... box, rebooted and hey presto it's now working perfectly. Thank you again here from the UK.

Thanks! Was getting the same error and this worked. I'm on Windows 10 Pro version 21H2 and under Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off, SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support SMB 1.0/CIFS Automatic Removal was enabled while SMB 1.0/CIFS Client and SMB 1.0/CIFS Server were disabled by default. Enabling them and rebooting allowed me to connect to my ReadyNas 102.

In 2022, there is a tick box under the Windows Feature list at 8:00 that says "Disable all SMB1 thingies". If you untick that and reboot, it works. Much simpler.

But so, what am I supposed to do? I wanna use the NAS, but everytime I'ma access it I'll have to enable SMB1, and then disable it again when I'm done?

I think there's a way to enable SMB2 on the Readynas? At least that's what I had done, and I could access it, but it wouldn't show up in my Network / Computers listing unless I enabled SMB1 client. And now it's problematic because I renamed the hostname of the Readynas but that's for another day.

Thank you for your video, I found that using Apple's Safari browser will support the web UI from the DUO, which relies on the obsolete TLS standards

hi, please can anyone help, i have the same version, for whatsoever reason my readynas is not detected on router page or pc, doesnt matter its windows os or mac pc, changed pc, router, cables, but for whatsoever reason it always blinks all the lights with full fan speed whenever i switch on with or without the hard disks, i have installed even the smb package in windows 10, turned off firewall but no use, pls help, how to solve this?

Any idea to which value i have to change my subnet in order to connect with the ReadyNAS Duo RND2110? and, yeah: There is a "v2" partly covered by that RND Sticker on the main label..

I've got the ReadyNAS duo v02 it was all working but now it's not coming up in the network unless I connect through RAIDar. I went through these steps but sadly what ever I did hasn't fixed it I even tried the WireShark but the numbers etc I got back were all differnt to yours. Seems an expensive change to get a new NAS just because mircosoft decide SMB is not safe.

Curious, when I enabled [clicked on] all SMB protocols thru the Windows 10 Features interface and restarted...Nothing/nadda/zip! So I installed Powershell7 and it said something about the script not being 'run in elevated mode'; so I searched for 'powershell elevated script' and found a script that would do that.....pasted in your referenced line of powershell script, rebooted and Vwalla! , all my ReadyNAS files came up. *** For some reason, while I can now access the files on the NAS, I cannot Delete?? Thank you very much!

I have enabled the SMB1 and I gained access to the NAS, but only for reading. If I want to "paste" something onto the drive, the `paste` function is simply faded. Does anyone have an idea about how to solve this? Thanks!

Hi! I have a recent Synology DS218 and I think I have almost the same problem… is it possible that the nas still uses the smb 1? I will try to enable it and I will let you know! Thanks man!

Hello, thank you for nice tutorial. I have followed and managed to enable SMBv1 protocol in windows, however the problem with my NAS 102 remains the same. At another computer it works, with TV it works, with new PC - no. I see it in network but when I click i get the same message. Any further thoughts? Thank you in advance. Marek

The Netgear brand has not been able to develop the management software of its NAS product. Flash players have disappeared and we lose our equipment. Thanks Netgear

Thanks a lot for a thourough and fun tutorial. Only thing is, that PowerShell command does not react in the same way for me. It ends up saying "Path : [blank], Online : True, RestartNeeded : False". And it doesn't get me my ReadyNas back either. Any clues?

My SMB seems to be on and still Windows can't attach the drive. Unit is visible in the Computer/Network. Also in Netgears admin tool. Any idea? Stopped working after that damn 20H2 update..

So.. nobody seems to care that SMB 1 is totally unsafe to use these days? "Oh, great, we just enable it an bam! Everything's solved!" ... Or do you have some other methods of providing safety to this old protocol?
