One algorithm I found that’s really useful is a three-swap that goes through the middle: (R2 U2 R2 F2) (R2 U2 R2 F2). It solves a fairly complicated case that can pop up towards the end a lot faster than if you tried with the single algorithm. Edit: I see a lot of people have already found this :/

i found a method for this and you just solve all corners first (it usually takes 1-2 sec for this) and for edges you use U2 R2 x3 and M2 U2 x2 for edges i avrage around 13 with this. Algs for 3 cycle are R2 U2 F2 U2 R2 U2 F2 and for other case is just revesre F2 U2 R2 U2 F2 U2 R2 (I use scrambles like for normal solve but R is R2 and B or B´ is B2). I also tried other methods something like blocks first ( something like roux ), cfop style, lbl, something like ortega, and edges first, but they are all slow and unconsistent This was really fun and make more videos like this

Hey guys, I recently found how to solve every final case that you could get with Half Turns 3x3 (3HT for short). You probably found them too, since they're intuitive, but this could still help you. For shortness I'll refer to the alg that goes (R2 U2)x3 as "L" and the alg that goes R2 U2 D2 L2 U2 D2 as "II" (actually you could optimise this alg by doing R2 E2 R2 E2 or, if you hold it vertically M2 U2 M2 U2) These are: 1-if you get "L", just do it 2-if you get "II", just do it 3-if you get 3 edges on top and 1 on bottom, face the cube such that the 3 edges point towards you, then do U2 L2 D2 x' "L" x D2 L2 U2 4-if you get 2 edges on top and 2 on bottom, rotate one layer to see if they can form an "L" (remember: half turns only). If they do, do the alg. If they don't, put the vertical bar (the two edges that need to be swapped directly) in front of you, with the rightmost edge on top (if it is on bottom just do x2 or y2) and do L2 U2 L2 D2 x' "L" x D2 L2 U2 L2. 5-if you get an H perm (on one layer two pairs of opposing edges need to be swapped) put that layer on the top and do L2 F2 D2 x' "L" x D2 F2 L2 6-if you get a 3-cycle (3 edges that need to be swapped) put one bar on the right and do "L". Then you'll get case 3 Remember that these are mostly intuitive and so you shouldn't memo them just as algs!

That is actually really fun! I came up with the alg you showed later. (R2 U2 R2 U2 R2 U2) Then I solved corners first and used the alg to swap edges.

I've been doing double moves only on my 3x3, 5x5 and 7x7 for a long time now. I came up with that same alg for 2 edge pair swapping, and another one to cycle 3 edges in the same slice. On bigger cubes I do corners first, then edges, then centers.

FINALLY. Took me like, 30 mins or so to solve. I got stuck in an H perm and everything I tried just kept going around in circles and coming back to it. Felt like a kind of parity situation. So I figured I needed some kind of odd move to break the cycle. It was a bit of luck and I can't remember exactly what I did that finally solved it but I broke that cycle by turning adjacent sides, R2 B2. Then ran a sequence of moves I'd been experimenting with, M2 D2 M2 R2 D2 R2 D2. Not sure exactly what my final moves were that magically solved it but now I'll watch the video and see how easy J perm makes it look 😛 And I was just screwing around again and realized that that long sequence I came up with is the the same as doing (F2 R2)×3 🤦♂️ Big brain here, folks 🧠

So, I ended up spending a few hours trying to work out a method for doing this, this is what I came up with. It has 4 algorithms. Let's just start with the algos and what I named them: H-Swap: (M2 U2)2: Flips UF UB, DF DB L-Swap: (R2 U2)3: Flips UF UB, RF RB Dot-Swap: F2 U2 (F2 R2)3 U2 F2: Flips UF UB, disturbs edges on S layer 3-Cycle: (R2 U2 R2 F2)2: Permutes UB -> UF -> FD, can be reversed The method: Step 1. Build a 2x2x3 block. This is fairly intuitive, and with practice seems to usually be doable in 12 moves. I find it effective to start with one edge, then do each 2x2x1 block successively. The rest of this guide assumes that the block is kept in the bottom left with a 2x2 facing you. Step 2. Solve corners. This is extremely intuitive and never takes more than 3 moves. Step 3. Solve opposing layers. Assuming the orientation detailed in step 1, this refers to solving the F and B face. There are two cases: Two pieces are unsolved: Use L-Swap One piece is unsolved: Use dot-swap. Algorithm assumes that the dot is on top and the block is on the bottom left; you can either rotate the cube or flip the algo if it's on the right instead, if you mess up you'll end up with the first case. Step 4. Final permutation At this point, you have either a 3-cycle, an H swap, or an X swap (which afaik can't be done faster than just successive H swaps). Use whichever. Full method takes me about 25 seconds, and I'm much slower than JPerm, so it's probably(?) more efficient than the one in the video. All algorithms were found with trial and error, there's probably something more efficient for the last two, especially dot-swap.

I've been playing around with different methods to solve a 3x3 using only double moves and I came up with a very intuition-based yet seemingly fast method: 1) Make four parallel "bars", where a "bar" is a group of 3 solved pieces (like the white-orange-blue corner joined to the orange-blue edge joined to the orange-blue-yellow corner) 2) Solve the cube if the solution from here is obvious, otherwise move to step 3 3) Make four "edge bars" parallel to the set of "bars" made in step 1, where an "edge bar" would be something like the white-orange edge joined to the orange center joined to the orange-yellow edge) 4) Solve the cube from here Sometimes it can be hard to do step 3, but using some of the edge commutators shown in the video and/or the comments - when combined with a little intuition - makes it possible. I haven't played around with this method a lot, but I'm averaging a sub-20 with my first 5 solves and I'm not that great of a cuber (on normal 3x3 I average around 25 seconds), and especially when compared to other methods I've tried this seems like a pretty good one.

Yeah, sorry, but i don't think it'll happen. Some originality and you might have a chance.

@srikrishna2504 жыл бұрын
This is how computers solve it. There are 2 variants 1. Thistlethwaite algorithm (4-step) 2. Kociemba's algorithm (2-step) There's a variant of the former called Human thistlewaite algorithm I would really appreciate if jperm makes a video about these

I made a really useful alg for this, its R2 F2 R2 U2 R2 F2 R2, it does the same thing as M' U2 M U2. What i do for double moves only is corners first, then this alg for cross edges, then middle layer with R2 U2 R2 U2 R2, then a really long H perm if necessary but i cancel alot of moves most of the time.

I already knew how to solve a half turn only 3x3 for a while now, but 2 weeks ago i decided to tackle this problem on bigger cube in order to figure out a method that works for any NxN. The biggest i've solved so far is 9x9
