Copilot should have a $5 monthly Hobbyist plan(limited requests or something) for non full time developers. It would allow other people to explore the tool to develop small ideas/projects. It's very difficult to justify 10 bucks a month when you don't live in developed countries and/or don't make money with programming. Copilot is in another class of tools and it should be more inclusive!

But still 10 bucks a day is a worth investment, at any country, beer es mre expensive and people still spent mmoney on it, rich or poor.

@@moibe182 I'm not saying they should do what this guy is asking but in Argentina, it's common to make less than 2 usd an hour. Definitely hard to justify 10 usd if you are not using it a lot. (of course I assume your "10 bucks a *day*" was a mistake)

Meh, I used the copilot when it was preview. It just felt like it got in my way all the time. Using chat gpt IMO is a better workflow. Being able to discuss with the bot and have a back and forth is much better than a blob code suggestion.

The golden age of coding is gone, as nowadays you need to pay for code tools like this in order to not get out-competed. Really looking forward to the democratisation of LLMs at scale with localised open-source systems. I hope GitHub Copilot would be remembered as a great entry point to a free market of LLM code completion tools at scale instead of normalising more and more the need of paying proprietary tools like this in order to stay afloat with the competition.

Copilot is a grate tool! Thanks for the video! Just a few points: a) Sad truth that for IntelliJ IDEA extension is very limited in functionality comparing to VS Code; b) Also would be great to see a video about more complex Copilot, usage such a code refactoring etc.

Does anyone know how frequently is Copilot updated or if it has web access? I'd like to write code using LangChain but they are updating the library everyday. Or maybe they fix this issue by just accessing the libraries' code.

Research IS the fun of programming in selecting the right solutions to solve problems. A major gripe of mine is that such tools will saturate the market with otherwise incapable programmers into the industry and that sucks.

I build entire IoT, dashboard, and mobile app for 200 outlets, my self (with AI) from scratch with vanilla JS. AI can do the backend and microcontroller thing more straightforward, if you define complete detail prompt. Prompt is not good for UI/frontend things. It's just matter of time, when input/output tokens becomes larger and multi-formats, then we can input our app design/proposal and the output is the entire big app.

Your salary should be free too. - If you don’t have any: copilot is included in the student plan and the hardship fund. If you need a reality check: GPUs running this - and most importantly the talent - to build something like this costs lots of money. Github as an org is among all developer tools already one of the most generous ones in value for money. So stop complaining or build something better cheaper

If you're a professional developer, writing code is more natural than natural language. I guess this is for rookies and hobbyists.
@apaatsio
@apaatsio Жыл бұрын
Professional developers are interested in things like architecture, design patterns, etc - not mere keystrokes. Copilot makes the "keyboard work" less time-consuming so that developers can focus on the things that matter.

@@apaatsio If you're lousy at math, you're going to suck at [professional] physics. The same goes for software development if you suck at coding. Ideas alone don't make things happen. One has to have the practical skills to realise their "big picture".

This sounds like a fantastic way to make sure that literally nobody in your company knows what half of your code does or how it works, while simultaneously violating the licenses of literally every single repository on github. Remember, if you copied someeone's code word-for-word with copilot, it's not illegal, because uh uhm uh copilot :)

It's way more different than a code copy pasted by internet. Copilot tries when possibile to maintain the context of your work and often its code is really understandable
