I can still remember while I was solving this question in JEE Advanced 2016 sitting inside IIT Kharagpur (my examination centre). I was able to solve it and the internal happiness was on next level. I looked at the ceiling and thanked the God to help me out. I was actually obsessed with getting admission into my dream institute, Indian Institute of Technology! Today I am a physics research scholar at the best institute of India, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore after graduating from IIT Guwahati (the institute who actually made this question). I got goosebumps after suddenly seeing this question while scrolling KZbin. It's been 7 years since my dream started.❤

@@arihantjaiswal7972 Hi, I didn't have any coaching, rather I don't believe that coaching will do anything more than what you can do by yourself. You should focus on the concepts, ask questions to yourself about the subjects and try to get a solution on your own. That's how you get better and better in concepts. JEE advanced is an exam which determines your thinking capabilities and clarity in concepts. You may miss a few practice sessions but never miss a concept to understand. After understanding the concepts, practicing questions will be a cherry on top of the cake. Never take an equation as granted. Find how the equations come or derived and you're ready for your JEE! If you prefer lecture series then make sure those lectures are correct and from a reputed organisation. Never skip any topic in between two important topics. Don't focus only on "important" topics otherwise you'll end up messing up the concepts. After studying from books or any reputed lecture series, you can start practicing the questions... gradually increase the difficulty levels.

The people here bragging about the selection rate being 0.2% should understand that it isn't to be proud of something. Though the people clearing JEE Adv would definitely be among the smartest students out there, the low selection rate basically shows our overpopulation and the lack of enough good-quality institutes for the masses. I am an JEE aspirant too (2023) and seeing 1.1 million people compete for 17k-20k seats shouldn't be the case. Edit: Guys I got into IIT Delhi in first try. So yeah finally over

@Yath YT Yash the point of my comment was to say that the low selection rate isn't an achievement. Obviously there are a lot of good institutes but there aren't enough. Only a handful of the private ones are good enough and there aren't enough seats for students. This too is the reason why private colleges take a huge amount of "donations" from students in exchange of seats. After perhaps 100k students in JEE Mains, it all comes down to who can pay more.

Hi @Tibees , I've a doubt in the solution. I'm not able to digest the direction of omega you took at angle theta to the z axis. I believe it should be along the z axis. This is bugging me for a while now.
3 ай бұрын
yes @Tibees is incorrect there, it will be along z-axis because the system will rotate in a circle, but still that doesn't change the solution, because angular velocity direction is not necessarily fixed and can be thought as seeing from different angles, and can be taken as an arbitrary direction even if the direction was different you would have reached the same answer. You can try with different directions because if w is in z direction then you can basically break it's components in all the other directions except the one perpendicular to z. So, for simplicity purposes yes it should have been in z direction but it is not necessary to assume it in that direction, you can break it's components in other directions meaning there are angular velocities respect to other directions, hope it's clear

So the question, india has a very tough entrance exam so we must me making some real good engineers right? Truth- more than 50-60% engineers are jobless. Reason- if you clear jee by flying Colors you go and study in iit, nit or highly reputed state colleges. Total number of total seats they offer is only around 50-60k(as compared to 1 million people who right the exam every year) Rest of the colleges are very bad and they dont even ask for a decent jee score to admit you in the college. Hence those are just forced engineering students who had to take up engineering due to parental pressure and they endup learning nothing! A recent survyed showes that about 80% of engineering graduates in india are unemployable because all they have learned is to clear University exam and not actually how to be an engineer. You have solved it so beautifully! Its been ages since I have worked on a mechanics problem, but I watched the video through and it made so much sense and all these concepts that I hardly use came back to me. Historically JEE physics was always heavy on Mechanics and Electricity, I wonder if thats still the case. In my days ( going back 20 odd years ) there used to be 4 exams. The first one was a screening paper ( multiple choice questions on Physics, Chemistry and Maths) and then after 1 hour break it would be a 3 hour Chemistry Paper 100 marks. The next day would be two, 3 hour tests ( Maths and Physics) . Your Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics answer sheets would only get evaluated if you scored enough in the Screening exam inspite of the fact that you did write 4 exams :).

Karan Kumbhare of course....you'll definitely need 4-5 years to fully utilize all the opportunities IIT can offer. 2 years is in no way enough for that and I have felt that myself. But there are a lot of courses which are not offered in IITs in undergrad level, like Geology. So I had to do my undergrad somewhere else and I didn't do M.Sc in IIT, because there was a better research department for Pondicherry University. Then again, M. Tech was better at IITB, so I joined there afterwards. I believe what makes an IITian is what the entire institute can offer you for individual growth rather than a particular course. And undergrads have an advantage when it comes to the time they get spend in an IIT

Not Everyone do 4 year training, Most of the people do in 11 and 12th, some do only in 13th (1 year drop to prepare) and who ever could not got good marks in 12th then he can attempt it again in 13th ( that makes it 3 year). Then comes parents who has very good financial status and are near to coaching center can get their child admitted for JEE prep in 9th standard But these are very very few. And Center of all of this is happening is Kota ( Resonance and Allen)

Just to clarify, 3 minutes is the average time per question for the exam(that is, if one were to attempt all the questions). But since a very small percentage of people attempt all the questions, the majority gets aroud 10 to 15 minutes for a question of this difficulty. Most high schoolers giving the JEE are just immature attention seekers, the exam isnt even as hard as they say
@jeanehrenberger1165 жыл бұрын
Hey, nicely explained and executed! As i am studying material sciences ( most of that is physics) , i have to say the by far hardest part of this question was to understand it properly. Maybe it's down to the fact we weren't allowed to use a calculator in math classes and physics for 3 years, but the math and trigonometry involved was not hard per se at all. In our first exam, we had to derive one of Kepler's laws of orbital motion (which one escapes me right now) just starting with F = (G*m*M)/r². That was a tough nut imho :D

The problem is not difficult but The problem is to solve within time
@petergregory71993 жыл бұрын
The actual test is that you observe the correct steps within the time frame. So the first trusty formula is ‘don’t panic’. In practice the relevant formulae would be available and it would simply be a question of selecting which ones were appropriate for the question, as Tibee’s does. The fact that these formulae are withheld shows that the idea of the test is to get the student more and more wound up. This is a form of mental cruelty. So it shows that the temperament for exams is crucial. You could know the methods but be unable to access them due to anxiety. So the test is not theoretical mechanics but cool headedness under pressure.
