This helped so much! I was confused why we were multiplying the common denominator to the entire equation; The first time we multiply to get a common denominator accordingly, and multiply to the numerator, also. The second time we multiply the common denominator to the entire thing to cancel the denominators out. Thanks!

When you solve for x, in the first example, you get x = 2 ± sqrt(34). Neither of these values make any of the denominators equal to zero (0), so in this case, both solutions are valid.

As an ex Maths and Electronics teacher then college lecturer I think you go too quickly especially for struggling students Mario. Many students who go to sites such as this are struggling and possibly doing homework etc. Slow it down.
