I`ve been an Artist from childhood to now at 73 , and even I am amazed at the " caricature artist " who I envie very much. I`ve never ventured into the art of Caricature but I wish I had done it at a much earlier stage in my Life. Hats off to these guys who excel at it .

Excellent teacher. I love the way Court explains everything. I learn so fast from him.

I'm gonna try the list technique, not just for character illustrations, but for other art projects, too. It sounds simply brilliant!

That's great, Sam. It's true. Such a simple thing like making a list of priorities and focused goals can help out with any genre of art.

This is a great course. Well done Court! Big help. Euan Mactavish (UK) uses a similar verbal method to plan before drawing. Hoping that you can treat the topic of doing caricatures of folks with really average faces.
@CourtJones7 жыл бұрын
Hey Bill. All of part 2 of this course is generally geared towards showing different strategies to solve caricature problems, like difficult faces. But there is one lesson in particular I think you will enjoy that focuses on just that problem.

Who is the guy starting at 6:01? If we're suppose to start with the 'big shapes and then move on to the details' as stated at 6:00, then hair should have been 1st or 2nd on the Hillary list instead of 9th.

but how do you do caricatures of people who really don't have any noticeable traits ? I've been trying to make one of lexa from the 100 and I just cannot find anything that makes the drawing look like her
@CourtJones7 жыл бұрын
That's a question a lot of folks have. Each of the lessons in part 2 will help give you different techniques to solve difficult faces. But there is a lesson coming up that specifically focuses on that problem.

Lmao! Proko you're a genius! After looking back at the thumbnail I realized that the shadow of Hillary Clinton is Donald Trump!

This is my first new full caricature lesson on KZbin in over two months because we took a break before beginning part 2 of the course. Stan has released several of his demos since then. And when both our courses are in full swing, we alternate them week after week.

That's amazing rendering. I knew it was Hillary immediately even without the reference.
@Liu4847 жыл бұрын
i... i mean, the technique itself seems right, but i think i disagree a lot about which traits on hillary to exagerate. so much that i couldnt really recognize her in your drawing either. It's funny, like we see different things when looking at the same person/picture
@31leoceara7 жыл бұрын
I agree. The tips are excellent, but Hillary's caricature didn't end up so recognizable. And unlike the artist, I personally think that Hillary has BIG, bulgy eyes.
@CourtJones7 жыл бұрын
Well that's the amazing thing about caricature. 1,000 different artists can exaggerate a subject's likeness 1,000 different ways, and they can all look like the person. There never is just one right answer to how to caricature someone. Hillary in particular looks vastly different from different angles and when making different expressions, which I mention in this video. She has a really flexible face. If I were to draw her from another photo, I might make very different decisions like big bulging eyes, massive teeth and other things. I encourage you to explore your own caricatures of her.

@@CourtJones Yeah, her likeness was immediately recognizable to me. So I'm not sure what those other people were talking about.

If you're wondering why they chose Hillary instead of Trump, it's probably because there have already been thousands of caricatures of Trump, and it wouldn't be as interesting or as challenging.

I dont see her as having a big nose. I think this is why girls end up getting plastic surgery. They could have a normal nose but its expected for females to have a nose like emma watson or they'll hear 'you got a big nose' their whole lives
@missim82077 жыл бұрын
You think every nose is big and wide. Or at least noses I think are normal sized. You should meet MY nose. You'd write down "massive nose, literally truck sized. Planetary nose" LOL Also aging jokes = not cool
@CourtJones7 жыл бұрын
Well, in this video, I showed three caricatures and checklists. Two of them I describe as having short noses. So there's that. And sorry you heard age jokes. I thought my comment about the neck and how we are all aging was actually expressing empathy and solidarity. On a related note, and to make this a teaching experience - to ignore signs of aging when drawing an aging person does a disservice to them and the caricature. I think people of all types are beautiful. I love drawing the differences between people and showing what makes each person unique and individual. And to make that drawing funny to look at. That's what caricature is about.

i hate people who think others' opinions are a teachable experience for them or who think the only reason anyone dislikes what they've done is that they didn't understand basics and need a lecture
