It reminds me of knot maths,... You know there is only one loop and returns to the start. If you lined all the Matchbox lids the same way, you might be able to associate a number or word (+1 position & clockwise, -1 position straight)), and all add up to 0 movement and 0 or 360 rotation. Maybe? 😜 The knot videos are cool tho

Sirios Star yes these are also rabbet joints but the way I have learnt these are still “technically” a type of lap joint, but I guess,yes, I should have said rabbet joint as this would be more accurate. Thanks for pointing it out and reminding me.
@siriosstar47895 жыл бұрын
the two joints are similar and i doubt that i would be able to create a clear distinction with words , hence my suggestion of viewing a photo or drawing of the two joints . A lap joint in most cases is where an equal amount of material is removed creating a flush surface on both sides. A rabbet joint also will have a flush surface on both side but the amount or depth of material removed is not equal. Cheers.

I enjoy watching you solve all of the puzzles whether you celebrate with your solution for the creators solution there’s not always one way to solve a puzzle ,, do you not get frustrated it’s supposed to be a challenge ,, if it wasn’t a challenge it wouldn’t be any fun it’s designed to keep you guessing as much as it can . On your difficulty scale in this case I think you need to upgrade it to a three out of five at least you have an advantage over oh shit that is you do puzzles all the time we on occasion that makes them more difficult for us you have the advantage of experience as you have said many times .

@Novaximus5 жыл бұрын
My method would be trial and error since there are only 4 pieces. But I probably would take two pieces and find a way to put them together that would look like half of a symmetrical shape. My first instinct as well was that you could only solve it by pushing all 4 pieces together at the same time like a dexterity puzzle.
@poxa5 жыл бұрын
I think the scientific approach would be the 5 power 5 mindset, which will give you how many combinations are there. However, some combinations are obviously wrong; let's say 50%, if you start with a piece and follow all the possible combinations you'll actually get really close to an answer in one of them, then you can work it from there.
