The coordination wasn't the hard part. We had the template finished pretty early on. The trouble was fighting off the bots. I was there, trying to keep things under control. 90% of the accounts placing incorrect pixels were fresh accounts with no karma. We never figured out who was botting against us, but it was pretty obvious someone was.

Hard to believe French people are able to defend against thousands of raiders at 6 in the morning. The bots are programmed to place a specific color in a specific spot, so when the r/place ended and all colors got replaced with white the entire French flag dissapeared in under 5 minutes. People complained about this a lot once the event was over since Reddit didnt put any requirements as to who can participate, so an account that is 0 days old with 0 karma and a randomized name is able to place pixels. Kinda ruins the point of the entire event.
