In 1980, I was 20. Working as a brand new Paramedic on the ambulance. My Paramedic partner, Penny was 34. She started as an ambulance attendant in 1969. She really knew her stuff and trained me well. We worked the entire 80s decade together and even much longer (most of our EMS careers). We listened to this music constantly on duty and off. It brings back great memories for me. Little did we know that we would fall in love, eventually becoming husband and wife. I knew her for a total of 43 great years, the best times of our lives. We lived together for 30 years, married 15 of them (I was her second husband). Unfortunately, Penny died suddenly, May 2020. She had over 53 years of service before she passed. I can tell they don't make women like Penny anymore. I love and miss you, my wonderful wife. But life goes on.

Good stuff. My dates were 1990-3, so it was rave for me. Eat Static etc. And yes I still choose to play such sublime sounds. Of course the 80s was a fantastic decade for music however, and I tend to listen out on the radio and make comments like good song, and proper song and so forth. Anyhow interesting, and made me smile.

Hard to imagine. Its like you ask somebody you know if he/she still listening to music from the ancient Egypt, Greece or Roman Empire. Hell even the music from the early 1900s is almost forgoten. The music evolves all the time and after some time the ones from 100 years before get forgoten. Hard to accept because we live today and the nostalgia kicks in, but thats the reality.

Every generation has good music. The 70s 80s and 90s still had some awful music too. Todays music scene is so much more saturated, and yes there is going to be a lot of terrible music, but it just means you have to look for it. Keep hunting, guaranteed you'll find something you like. Don't be that old head that always says, "Back in my day". Come on man.

Born in the 70's, I was raised on all of this music along with Floyd, Bowie, the police, Chris de burgh, meatloaf, Whitney, carpenters, Diana ross and many more amazing artists. Both my parents are gone now but in the music they played, they're still here. Memories of cranking up music to sing along with them in the car. The world seemed so much kinder then and I believe the 80's was the best era for most things. So much has gone but is never forgotten. Let's keep it alive in ourselves ❤

Same here, from 2005 and I love all kinds of music, the 80s is magical. Sometimes I’ve thought that it would be nice to live through that time, but these days you can experience it in another light, back then there wasn’t even internet so maybe you wouldn’t find some types of music, and who knows what would happen, either way I feel you can take the best parts from everything and life can be awesome. 80s is awesome but so can these days too, even the movies back then had such a good feeling about them. Times change and so can we, best wishes. Let’s appreciate our parents while they’re still around 😃

25, you'd be a 90's child ... all good though 80's in my mind .. born in the 70's here .. 80's were the best ...!! In Australia we had Mad Max, Americas Cup, Best Cricket Team in the World. Robert Decostella Best long distance runner. Miners that were real men, no A/C using 60 odd kg air legs to bore & fire the cuts paid by the meter.. Not a toy.. Ford XB XC around, Holden 253, 308's, Torana ... Good times

What a great sampling of 80's music! So many say they want a time machine to take them back to the '80s.... but that's already what this music is! It transports us - for a few moments we're back there... with the people and places we miss. And we visit who we WERE. Young, carefree, hopeful, and unencumbered with today's woes. Thank you for this trip down memory lane, the 80's were such a special time - always worth a visit!

I also was born in 1978, too. I grew up with an older sister who was into her music so much. I was exposed to a plenty of 80’s music as a kid. I love a fair bit of it still. Barely a garbage sounding song released into the music charts in this decade that’s for sure. When the 90’s hit the music video to songs by their artists was pretty popular way and indication for a song to be a hitter or a miser.

The setting in which 80s music came from is what makes it. Pushing the limits of technology, where synths and sampling machines were on top. First computers. Media that carried these songs were FM radio, television and magazines for youngsters with news and interviews. Times without internet and widespread personal computers. That cannot be repeated - which is alright. What we got is a library of songs, bringing us a specific vibe and charm of those times. 80s songs became classics along with other decades of the past. And they still carry the same energy as in the days they were created.
