I love how non-sexual and pure their love is. Ash was so emotionally deprived of love and security, that you can't help, but feel your heart warm up when he's with Eiji. And it can't be ignore to see how enamored and extreme Ash would go for this boy (and vice versa). Those two showed each other a love they needed in their lives, as tragic as this story is- their "selfishness" to be together forever, was just truly out of love and desperation for your soulmate to be by your side.
