Thanks for your video. I absolutely love your content and it has inspired me to continue buying East German military surplus and provided the most knowledge on the subject for a single channel. I am really looking forward to more content Thank you.

Will you be covering the UTV pouches. I have a couple of different versions of the UTV. Single front buckle and the double version. Also one with the cleaning kit pouch. All are UTV version.

As Simon notes ther are some more variants, the Flashentarn pouch model with the three side by side magazines has a reversed Two pocket variant and a Black and a Brown Leather model, (maybe more for Police use )is in my collection. I have a large curved Rain drop pouch that has an internal fifth pocket on its side the flap cover covers which fits the era cleaning kit, it has large belt loops and no square ring...I have not come across one since I got it in the mid Nineties. There are photos also show a flashentarn camo pattern pouch cut for the later Four pocket quick release type fastenings pouch, which I have yet to recover for the Republic..😂

Do you think the east german raindrop camo/brown splinter curved pouch can hold about how many nerf 10 round magazines that are curved. Please respond quick

Why was the magazine pouch worn on the right side? Wouldn’t it be more convenient for a right handed shooter to have it on the left hip? That way your support hand can easily grab a magazine while your right hand remains on the pistol grip during the reloading process.

A good question, I believe the standard reloading drill for an AK type rifle involves using the right rather than left hand.

They maybe wished to keep fingers away from triggers, their weapon safely was different to era western theories.

One theory that I have heard is that it allows the soldier to more easily kneel, with the magazine pouch in line with the right leg instead of digging in to the left.

large conscript force so it was probably wise to just have them keep there hand away from the trigger when trying to load another mag ergonomics are not a big thing in the eastern block countries especially after a few negligent discharges back when the Blumenstein pouch was on the left so they just done away and put it on the right with strichtarn

Hi. did the east Germans ever used soviet mag pouch?

Greetings from Germany. At the very beginning, the Kasernierte Volkspolizei (KVP) and the very early NVA used PPSH 41 under the designation MPi 41, using the Soviet PPSH magazine pouches. In 1957, the SKS 45 self-loading carbine was introduced in the NVA, whereby no Soviet magazine pouches were used, but directly self-manufactured ones with the new M57 surface camouflage, better known as flower camouflage. The few magazine pouches that can be found from the SKS that come directly from the GDR are often very faded and expensive. So yes, the NVA also used Soviet magazine pouches, but only one and that was for the MPi 41/the PPSH 41. I have the information from Flächentarn Krauß, the website is in German and can logically be translated. It starts with the amoeba camouflage and ends with toys, yes there were also toys with NVA soldiers. flaechentarn-kraus.hpage.com/ here is the Link when you want look for yourself.
