After I graduated Highschool and no one celebrated me, I learned they were never for me. So I never got upset that they didn't care about me, I was just surprised they were so stupid to think that after openly disrespecting me I would continue to help them. I'm not good to people to put on a show, its just my nature. It is also within my nature to completely and utterly disconnect from anyone I feel is abusing it.

I have a few family members who do good but it's not authentic. They want to look good but behind closed doors, they behave differently. I have shown up to family gatherings but my heart wasn't in it. I felt I was putting on a show so now I don't attend if my heart isn't in it. Tough to navigate.

I feel like I am the black sheep of my family, I tried my best to do right by people, but when I need help I can't depend on anyone in my family, I give gifts for birthdays but all I get is happy birthday when it's my time. The moment I say no or can't do a favor, they get mad. I am standing on my square and not getting manipulated into giving in.

I just pull back and spend my energy on myself like mentioned in the video. I agree that there's no point in talking to them about it. People either respect and love you or they don't. Some people can't help it and all they do is take, if you confront them they will deny it. If you're a "giver", find other "givers". The "takers" can be kept at an acquaintance level like mentioned. I remember helping some people work on their resumes, negotiating skills, sharing contacts, helping them move last minute... I never put them down or made them feel like I was owed. I did think I was owed at least respect. I realized that these people looked down on me, mocked me behind my back and never helped when I needed them to, but were monitoring me, so I just cut them off. My philosophy now is to help, but not overextend myself because it gets me taken advantage of.

Great!! Today prior individual suddenly …. Appeared after 7 months no contact!!! Of COURSE…. She wanted big favor.. to b done by 12/31/24 I promptly told her nicely No. She became pushy I held No!!! Hear it is I needed flyers done for an event. She when asked didn’t even blink!! No abruptly straight away!! I been pulled back since if you are nice person like Ms Mack says … they see you as a lick!!! Ok to treat people at the level they regard you

Once again Miss Mack! This totally resonates with me! For two decades ( I’m still young ish) Having highly envious, toxic family and repeated work colleagues who sabotage and destroy your life just based on envy removed my joy , peace and happiness. I have always been a kind and supportive person to many people; this alongside my deep empathy and sense of humour has caused all the above haters to lie and spread false , heinous rumours against me everywhere with absolutely no evidence! I never used to understand why these haters behaved in this way! Consequently my life has been ruined but stumbling across Miss Macks videos has explained why this has happened and how to deal with them! My niece. I helped raise her as a child after my brother's divorce. We were really close. Now she does live on the other side of the US ,but suddenly, she cut me off. No fight happened. No explanation. I realized that for a while I was the ONLY one trying to keep in touch and keep the relationship so I stopped. Since then, no contact from her whatsoever. She obviously DOESN'T CARE. Very hard still to NOT be hurt and move forward. 😮
