YES!! Why is it that most of these youtubers feel like they have to brand themselves in that way? It reads very commercial and disingenuous. You can still build your brand and image without all the fake bubbly fluff. It's just a big turn off. Reason 35688557789 that we all adore this woman. REALNESS!!!!

as someone kinda in the trifecta of hooded, deepset, and downturned corners, I've been deriving a lot of joy from just using 1 eyeshadow all over. Once you add in more colors it starts to draw attention to the bifurcation of lid vs browbone vs whatever. but just one shadow lets me look in the mirror and really understand where i want more color. and i don't have to make sacrifices for boring colors, I can just slap purple or orange all over and feel like ive done a lewk ✌

i do this when i’m feeling lazy, but now that i think about it, i think it suits my eyes most! the best thing is when you can just take a super shock shadow from colourpop or something and just smidge it all over ya lids and be out the door :))

My eyes are like that and I feel the same! What suits me best is 1 light color and if I feel fancy I'll add glitter on top. Also for the eyeliner I follow my eyeshape (it's not super downturned, just a little), so I go down first and then flick it. I used to do the mistake of going up directly from the corner and it just looked bad. Then I just line the waterline add mascara to the tips of the lashes so they don't fall and BOOM a lewk too!

the one thing i love about having hooded lids and practically NO real estate between the brow and eye is that when I curl my lashes and apply a tiny bit of mascara, they're already reaching/touching my brows and it makes them look SUPER long and gives me a youthful look. I like it.

I'm also a member of the hooded eye squad. Lining the upper waterline is a great way to get some definition without losing precious lid space. It feels very weird at first but with time you get used to it.
@hellykay
@hellykay 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I do this also and it really "traumatized" when a makeup artist onve told me "well, you are really supposed to line all of your lid". So I doubted myself for a while but I really don't think it suits me in most of the looks I do. But lining the upper waterline is a great way to make it seem like the lid is lined all the way.

100% agree that you have to change the “rules” or the “typical” way to apply eyeshadow in order to match your eye shape. I have eyelids like yours with a fold in them and I didn’t learn for yearsssss to go above the fold line but once I did I never went back to how I was applying shadow. Sometimes you just have to try different shapes and different applications to see how your eyes look with different styles. It’s just makeup so have fun girls, it washes off if you mess it up, but practice practice practice is seriously the best advice I could give.

When you're old and/or your skin folds over your lid at the outer corners of your eyes, you can't easily extend your shadow or make a tail because it ends up as a stupid CURL upwards, following the little roll of skin you're applying it too.

My struggle is that my eyes are like yours, but the fold comes more out in the outer corner, so for me the problem is the flick of the eyeliner crosses it, not just the top part (you know, the "trick" of the diamond shape to pass through it doesn't work) so I have to punt it inside the end of my upper lid. It seems cute, but I would love to be able to do a real long flick)

@@boldanabrasevic3020 the straight line technique definitely not, it gets lost in the folds. They don't work for everyone with actual hoods, which is smaller eyes, low brows, and minimal lid space with several or few folds in the crease. We've got fatty outer lid space tho 👩‍🎤

I just found you recently whilst searching for Benefit Boing reviews for my genetic dark circles and I've never found a more relatable beauty KZbinr. You have genetic dark circles like me and slightly hooded lids (I have natural double eyelids), which I used to be very conscious about because they didn't seem normal and when I was learning how to do makeup, my eyeliner would smudge, I'd look like a raccoon etc. I've recently learned how to do eye makeup, I'm no beauty guru, but I can get away with a nice peachy or ashy eye look, but I always want to be better. Thank you for your videos. It's really uplifting to see someone with the same features. I also love you're straight to the point, you're honest and you're educational too.

I have super hooded deep set eyes - but my problem is is that my crease goes all the way down passed the outer corner of my eye making it literally impossible to do a wing 😭 it also turns downwards so i actually just use one colour over my whole eye all the time because nothing else ever works out. This really helped me out for shaping my eyeshadow though👌 👍❤️

i have that too! i still do wings and wear em everyday , i wish i could show ya how i do em cause i used to struggle for years with my eye shape . i still do occasionally but this lil thing i came up w helps me get the wing to "hide" how the crease goes passed the corner of my wing

I have no confidence when doing shadow on my under eyes LOL! ZERO. However, now that you said try doing the under eye first to keep the downturn from happening I’m going to give it another try.

Yesss-preach the ways of the hooded life! No two hooded lids or eyes are the same. On my hoodies, I love to wing my shadow, lightly contour my socket line, and tightline my lash line w shadow. Amen to being conscious of placement of dark shadows. My eyes have continued to change as I get older, so having an arsenal of tips helps!

the biggest problem i have with my hooded lids is that they droop most on the outer corner. Thats why i feel these techniques look weird on me. Any additional tips for that?:)
@MonaHerSelfM

You still follow your eyesocket. With darker, concentrated colors on your outer corner you can camouflage the droopyness a bit, lifting the eye in general, when following her tutorial.

I too have droopyness on the outer corner. Some days I just contour the eyesocket and leave everything below that nude. Plenty of mascara, boom. A fresh look.

I tried using eyelid tapes (idk if they're easily accessible outside Asia, but here it's usually used to give people with monolids some lift) on the outer corners to help with the droop, and it works alright 😁 Tbh most days I can't be bothered and just rely on half set falsies on my outer corners to give lift.

Me too! My crease line is all the way on past my eyeline where I like to put my eyeliner It can be so frustrating especially because my skin is so extremely loose from the hood

Great tips! I have hooded kids and not much real estate so I usually shade my eyes towards the outer corners and above the crease, on the lid (some of my lid shows) I put on a light color (usually a metallic or bright color). Sometimes I do a wing but I keep it short otherwise it gets hidden under the outer corner of my lid.
