watching this again, your comment about psychedelic/underground strikes such a resonant chord. I was listening to Outsideinside & Traffic & Ladyland at the same time, and I thought this is it!

Had a smile on my face the whole way through this one. You showed some amazing records. Traffic, Moody Blues, Spirit, all just MASSIVE records! On to watch the next video.

The Millennium Begin is kinda magical. It makes me dance. Never though about it as psychedelic though, but your absolutely right!

Wow great albums. I have the clear light lp. Love the song Mr Blue. Awesome HP Lovecraft, Gun, Ultimate Spinach and really digging the Womb lps. Been trying to pick up some of these for awhile. Tremendous Psychedelia!

Just looking at all those albums was a psychedelic experience. Holy Smokes. I picked up a Red Crayola that I heard you talking about back in the day. Feb. 12th, first day of Mardi Gras, a theater near me is playing "Easy Rider" on the big screen. A psychedelic soundtrack for sure. Thanks for the overview, very groovy ;)

Hi Dereck, just found this video but in spirit of the music here, I just wanted to mention the Cosmic Dead, who are real psychedelic and at the same time a really good band.

Very cool albums and although a little out there at times some very interesting music on the first 3 albums.Got these from England in early 70's.Another fave of mine is Snafu by East of Eden.Great record ! I was just watching Dave's amazing two parter psych video and I almost knew you were going to hop on board and vibe with him. I saw him show Electric Prunes. I remember seeing those Rock Classics. Lothar and the Hand People, far out. Blue Cheer's 'Outside Inside' is a heavy album. I just got an beautiful mint copy of 'Tanz der Lemminge' from Peter. I will show it in my next video. Guess who turned me onto that copy of HP Love? I have the Zodiac. I want the Touch LP. I am touched~ Rob/Boston

do you remember a free jazz series in the late 60's, early 70's on Arista that featured re-releases of classic free jazz, like Anthony Braxton, and Albert Ayler?
@margroningen10 жыл бұрын
You mentioned some giant psych records. Ultimate Spinach - Behold & See, The Travel Agency (1968) , Moody Blues - In Search of the Lost Chord. Great picks. I would recommend the albums by West Coast Art Pop Experimental Band, Paperhead's debut (2011) The Paperhead - Let Me Know and Mmoss - Only Children (2012) MMOSS - Spoiled Sun

Do you associate prog with psychedelia? Even world and jazz. Like King Crimson, Atomic Rooster, Genesis, ELP, Affinity...ect.? I do, put selected works in that cat. There is so much music that infuses into psych. Even Tool ...you know?

Traffic, definitely. Gentle Giant's 3 Friends also emanates some good psychedelic effects. So does ELP's Tarkus in places, and for me the most transportive stuff is some of King Crimson's improvisation & early studio stuff. ( I thought it might have to do with any band performer absorbing Greg Lake's "aura" when he'd had too many mushrooms, but the fact is, Fripp's soloing is trippy about 75% of the time regardless of the era). Eno's good for some (creepy) psych effects too :)

Prog grew out of the classic psych bands. For me there is little difference between what is described as genre's. Clear Spot nice , Faust are great band still going I believe so them play in Hartford CT. Ultimate Spinach cool band Ihave their box set from the Boss Town sound good stuff
