Hi Steve! I remember you wondering in a video, long ago, if you should continue to do these karting videos or not. I say: Keep 'em coming me laddie! To people who only sporadically take up this kind of motorsport, this shows the 'how-to' in karting. I've learnt so much watching these videos. For instance, the small but important things like what to do with the weights, the fuelcap, where to throw the holding pins, the handsigns on track and how the 'attack' mode isn't always the way to go . This is a treasure chest of savoir-racing for the interested karting wannabe. The camera standpoint is really convincing and the sound-balance between ambient noise and the voice-over is simply perfect (very rare!) which makes watching the videos NOT an excruciating experience :-) I'm looking forward to the next season!!

13:21 When I drive on the straights I tuck in my shoulders(point them towards my stomach), put my elbows slightly towards each other(elbows pointing at hips) and put the top of the visor on the steering wheel, and let the head stay there, not just a short bow. If I need more vision I bend back in the neck, i don't raise my head. @Super GT You're a driver, so you know when not to do this, but it really helps. I gain ~150ms on average on my track, which has a relatively short straight. I'm 6'5 and have broad shoulders, so if I don't try to become more aerodynamic it's too big of an advantage for everyone else.

at 13:28 , Super GT claims that "the greek god of speed" gains 1,000,000 tenths of a second.... With some simple maths (1M tenths * 1s) makes it so that, Kosta gains **1.15 DAYS** worth of time due to his extreme aerodynamic capabilities.

I don't know if this suggestion still counts because I have a Rotax max 125 Evo but when you are about to start , lift the carburetor choke so you don't bug down the kart and to warm the tires keep going from side to side then when you get 2 corners before starting get in your position but keep warming your tires evenly

Regarding early racepace compared to late race pace... I have the same when I race karts. Slower first few laps and quicker towards the end. I’ve started to think it’s got something to do with how you drive, cognitively or by instinct. I rely alot on hand- eye coordination, seat feel and reflexes when I drive. More so than other drivers. They drive more contiously, actually thinking about what they’re doing... like they learn in their brain how to drive the corners of a track. That means I constantly develop during the course of a race, compared to the other drivers. I constantly, subcontiously, reevaluate and find new ways of traversing curbs and finding grip and momentum in corners and out of corners, without thinking about it. I’m more of a reptile brain/instincts/jedi kind of driver. Having watched some of your karting and GT Sports videos, I think you drive the same way as I do. A little bit more feel and instincts and a little bit less prefrontal cortex involved in the basic craftsmanship of manouvering. Sorry for the grammar and spelling. English isn’t my native language.

Riiiight. I know what it is and it's related to warming up the kart, not this jedi stuff hahaha

@Super GT I've seen several of your kart race videos and I noticed many situations like 4:49 when you start turning very aggressively on beginning of the corner and then you instantly correct it. Is such big angle for a fraction of second intentional? At first I thought that front wheels are losing grip but it is very consistent throughout your videos so started doubting my assumption. Great videos
@Super_GT5 жыл бұрын
The tyres are hard so you have to be aggressive basically.

I've recently seen people use DRS by sliding all the way down towards the pedals. I guess you'd need literal balls of steel to do that in these karts though.
