Funny, you guys talked about Sturgeon and Pamaj brought up a point about First Nation Canadians. I'm from a reservation called Sturgeon Lake in Alberta and fishing is a big thing for my grandpa who sets nets in the winter and summer. There are a few lakeside cabins too plus we have a Provincial campground/ docks around here. See this is why I like your channel. You're pretty relatable.

I didn't search through the comments to see if someone said this already but... Hecz if you think you are saving the fish during catch and release you're not always saving the fish. You can look up the statistics which shows that when you put the fish back in they usually end up bleeding out and dying. If the fish doesn't bleed out it can also die from over exhaustion from fighting you. So it is actually more humane to kill and eat the fish then to catch and release. I'm by no means shaming you for doing you, but I think you should have the knowledge before making those statements. Happy Fishing!

(sorry for the essay but heres the thing) Catch and release isn't perfect by any means, but it doesn't mean that keeping them is better. I've gone to plenty of lakes and ponds that are Catch and Release only and they have some of the most healthiest fish around. There's a good chance when I go fishing each time that I'll catch at least one fish that has been caught before and is healthy as can be (besides the small scar from the hook of course). There are proper tactics when releasing the fish to greatly better the chances of survival. For example, when landing the fish, do not drag it across the ground, because the protective slime thats around them will swiped off, leaving them prone to diseases. Another example, when you put the fish back into the water, hold it up right and swing it back and forth to provide oxygen to the fish and let it tell you when its ready to swim off to greatly reduce stress. Sometimes catching them and performing this tactic is actually beneficial to them, because during the summer they can't get a lot of oxygen, because the heat taking it from the water. The only thing is that when the fish does bleed it depends on where it is at. If its bleeding in the mouth, then it will be okay because this happens a lot when largemouth bass eat a smaller fish and it cuts their mouth from the pointy dorsal fin. If its bleeding in the gills, then yes you're better off keeping it which a lot of times i and many others do. I've seen these statistics before, but they have bias results do to each fish is not treated the same way each time it is caught. Like I said catch and release isn't perfect. Even if you do everything right it may not be enough, but that usually means that the fish was ill/unhealthy before it was caught. And thats a whole different issue. This essay isn't really directed to you, but to anyone that reads this should be aware of properly releasing a fish. That's where everyone goes wrong and end up killing a lot of fish... Cheers, man!

Hecz, you can't be pulled in by a shark because the line on the reel will drag when a certain amount of pressure is put on it. Fishing for sharks it would probably need to be about 60 pounds to catch a biggin. You can fight against 60 pounds pulling you by just leaning back. Drag in the line is when it lets loose when the fish is pulling. You've probably noticed it before.
